Just saw something in the ESPN crawler: Roberts is probably going to be named in the Mitchell report.

Maybe it will drive the O's asking price down?

And/Or maybe Angelos will lose a bit of affection.

Price cut on aisle 9!

Andy, you'll take Gallagher, Patterson, and Roquet. And you'll like it!

Oh well...he still provides a decent OBP and I'm thinking that his numbers the last 2 seasons weren't effected by steroids, so if he can provide that production and we don't give up too much, I'm ok with it.

Yeah, that big year he had may have been a product of roids, but the last two years seem pretty legit. Of course, we don't know that, I'm just sayin...

Or better yet, maybe it will make Hendry just not want him. Trading for Roberts in anything but a steal of a trade is a misallocation of resources. Focus on a good starting pitcher and a shortstop.

I would think he considered this the whole time he's been pursuing a trade for him.

Of course, this is Jim Hendry.

I thought he had already been named in the Grimsley affidavit. So it shouldn't be a surprise to any GM if he's in the report.

It shouldn't be. We've all known this for a year.

Also, I don't understand the big hulabaloo about discounting players being named. Sure, discount the years they could have been on the stuff, but that was a few years ago. Everyones been clean for the last couple years, so theres no need to adjust their predicted production.

While there may be no need to adjust predicted production, I highly doubt everyone has been clean the past couple years. The thing is, if they haven't been caught on the plan yet, you may be able to assume they are smart enough to avoid detection.

Then there is still no need to adjust predicted production. If they haven't been caught the past couple years, they won't be caught the next couple years. Theres been no indication that any of the testing is going to change, correct?

The whole Mitchell Report is to show that many baseball players abused PEDs in the past, but stopped when the ban was put in place. Its all just show so Selig can prove that hes "cleaned up the game".

That was my point. You can seperate those two issues. But you can't know that guys have been clean in recent years.

There is no way of knowing that anybody in MLB is truly clean until MLB mans up and begins HGH testing.

And does the penguin have this magic test that's going to be able to tell if everyone is truly clean and not taking HGH? :-k

If so, :-$ go to your nearest patent attorney before talking to anyone in baseball.

There's no urine test for HGH... there isa blood test.

And best of luck getting the Union to agree to blood draws. Not happening any time soon.

and every time they all out refuse to allow a certain type of testing my opinion that everyone in the union is using just goes up and up

I wonder about all of the Bonds' criticism if somewhere down the road we find out ARod has used steroids or HGH. As you said, there's no way of knowing who is clean and who isn't.
