Iowa up 42-39 with about 5 minutes gone in the 2nd half. Wow. Lickliter is simply the better coach, hands down.

Thats awesome. Go Hawkeyes ewwww

I've actually cheered for Purdue before so I hear ya.

47-44 Hoosiers with 12 minutes left. We might survive this one but yeah I'm not all that impressed.

I figured it was only a matter of time

#24 for Iowa....Johnson....that kid just hit the most unlikely sequence of 3 consecutive three point shots that you will ever see. IU hangs on to win 79-76 but it was only that close because of that kid hitting shots that are just unreal. He hit one from at least 35 feet and the 3rd one was a turnaround shot from near halfcourt.....wow. I'm amazed, all credit to him. Iowa has heart, I'll say that.

Gordon just broke Alford's school record for points scored in a Big Ten debut. 25 and counting. \:D/

I'm not even going to try and disguise my bitterness.

I hope Gordon breaks his leg.

I respect honesty. =D>

Quite simply, Lickliter put a clinic on that ass. Ignoring Johnson's last two minutes (the most impressive shooting display I've ever seen in person) that game was pretty much within 5 points for about 35 minutes.

We lost our best big man for the season on Saturday and this was our first game without him. We lost our third leading scorer for the game tonight after he gave us 4 minutes. We were only 15-25 from the FT line. We missed about 4-5 layups. We had absolutely no one who can guard Gordon or White. We have a fraction of the talent. Yet somehow we stayed in that game all night without much fluke stuff happening.

21 assists on 25 field goals? That's insane. It was the most we've resembled one of his Butler teams all year. We matched your 35 rebounds.

That may be the best loss I've ever seen considering the circumstances.

For the first time in seven years, SIU loses a game to Drake. No offense yet again and this team has absolutely no poise on the road. I fully expect this team to go 9-9, maybe 10-8 in Valley play. Pretty disappointing to see a team win one game then lose the next and repeat this process throughout. I hate inconsistancy.

Yep. That is why I was telling anybody who would listen that Lickliter was coaching circles around Sampson tonight.

Oh and Gordon was even more impressive than I anticipated. The guy is damn near impossible to guard. He used screens so well, changed speeds and took the right angles which is especially impressive for a freshman. It's damn near impossible to deny him the ball.

It seems like Ratliff has played terribly against us his entire career, especially in Iowa City. Nice to see considering he was down to Iowa and Indiana coming out of high school.

Sampson was easily outcoached. You have DJ White against a front court he should dominate, but he kept getting the ball 15 feet from the rim. If he has to put the ball on the floor to get his shot, it's not a good thing. Defensively, IU played dumb. We have great individual defenders, but horrible team defense. Nobody knows how to help on a screen-and-roll. They double down on the post just enough to not make it difficult on the post player while at the same time allowing their man enough room to knock down a jumper if the post player passes out of the weak DT.

Still a solid win. And as I said at the beginning of the year, Jamarcus Ellis (JC player of the year) will be the most important player in Big Ten play for IU. 15 points, 7 rebs, 7 assts, with 1 TO and 5 steals. He also held Johnson pretty well, until the 15 late points.

All those who had Mississippi 12-0[13-0], ranked 18th in the country and owning the SEC's only win over a ranked opponent heading into January, raise your hand. And now go play the ponies. On the Richter scale of hoops surprises, the Rebels' sizzling start is seismically behind only Kentucky's cataclysmic collapse. With nine of the 13 players on the roster new to Oxford, Andy Kennedy's bunch was picked to finish dead last in the SEC West. But one of those newbies, rookie point guard Chris Warren (15.3 points and 5.6 assists), has been downright sensational. He and previously little-used Eniel Polynice (12.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists) have settled a backcourt that had zero returners. Mix in senior big man Dwayne Curtis and his team-high 15.6 points and 8.1 rebounds, and the surprising start isn't so surprising.

Reality check: Beating then-unbeaten Clemson for the San Juan Shootout championship put some muscle behind the Rebels' record. They count New Mexico, Central Florida and Winthrop -- all decent, if not great, teams -- among their victims. But like that of Vanderbilt, Ole Miss' early season schedule has left a lot to be desired.

Rebs being good at Basketball is like them being good in Football, it happens once, maybe twice a lifetime.

Pac-10 play starts up and UCLA goes to Palo Alto to take on Stanford. Really tough way to open the conference.

Hopefully UCLA and WSU can win out this week so they can both be top-5 teams next week when they get together at Pauley.

We have an SOS of 5 and Dukes is 132, I wonder what Dickey V is going to say now?

Coach K is doing the best he can with the great lack of talent he has. He is really rallying the troops. Something along those lines.

Heck, we've lost 2 starters and I'm pretty proud of how the kids are playing. Honestly, poor Boeheim never gets enough credit imo.

DePaul is going to lose by 200 to Nova tonight

Put money on it. DePaul is only getting 1.5

Nova is a stone cold lead pipe lock to cover.

DePaul up 8 late in the first half.

Seriously Frazier is dumber than Warren Carter, and he's supposed to be out there for his defense only to get torched by Butler tonight.

And where in the eff was Pruitt the whole 2nd half.
