Good game. :)

What did you guys think of Henderson? He is the most athletic player to come to Duke since Grant Hill IMO.

Was Henderson one of the refs?

He was the one that put up 23 points on you guys.

Oh couldnt really notice with all the free throws being shot, and fouls being called. It was a weird game last night, and maybe rules are different in Hawaii but I could have sworn college basketball was 5 on 5, but apparently not.

IU should finally get some tests this weekend. I'm curious to see how they respond. They play Illinois St. in Chicago on Friday, and then either Kent St. or Xavier on Saturday night. That is followed by Georgia Tech on Tuesday and Southern Illinois in Carbondale on Saturday.

The most amazing stat so far about Gordon is his efficiency. He has scored 84 points on only 41 shots. O.J. Mayo should take note.

6'5" Anthony Newell, the tallest player on Ball State's team, goes down with a foot injury the day before 7'2" Roy Hibbert and Georgetown comes to play.

I predict 55 points for Hibbert and Ball State losing by at least that margin.

We ended up with 3 players with 4 fouls and one that fouled out, too.

Instead of blaming the game on the refs blame it on your 32% shooting or Duke's 56% shooting.

I'm definitely ready for some real opposition for IU.

If you think the refs had no effect on that game then I dont know what to say. The refs took Pruitt and Randell out of the game, who Duke couldnt handle at all. Im not blaming the loss on the refs, but the calls Duke gets is beyond absurd, its downright pathetic.

They also took Duke's two big guys out of the game. Singler and Thomas had 9 fouls played for 50 minutes and Randle and Pruitt played 53 minutes and had 7 fouls.

Yeah, yesterday they were just going thru the motions. It would have been nice to schedule your first tough game at home. But it's not like the 3 games in Illinois are super far, and 2 are neutral sites. Though, Southern will be tough at home.

OJ Mayo > Eric Gordon

and its not even close...

On the college level, I disagree. Gordon is probably the slightly better player. As far as projectability to the NBA, Mayo is the better prospect because of his size, while the comparisons to Gordon as a "better Ben Gordon" is probably a good one. Gordon will likely always be a very good player but a tweener in the NBA while Mayo has the size and skills to be a superstar. Right now, Gordon's a lot more polished than Mayo is.

Ben Gordon's a top 15 scorer in the league. A better version of him is a good player, tweener or not. Eric has a "NBA body". I think that will help him succeed at the next level. I think he can handle enough to play the point, but he won't be a guy a team looks for to distribute the ball and run the offense. He'll be a lot more Gilbert Arenas than Steve Nash if he has to play the point. Obviously, it's hard to project him to be the scorer that Arenas is, but it's not out of the question. A team with a point forward (like Odom is, Pippen and Grant Hill were, etc) would be the best situation for EJ, where he can play off the ball on offense, and still have the quickness to guard the point on defense.

Mayo's a better pro prospect though. He's probably my favorite of the Frosh class.

Now? No way.

I like Rose more than either, though.

My roommate and I were discussing this yesterday, and not only can you make the case that the best 5 players in America are all freshmen, you could also fit them all into a semitraditional starting five if you wanted.

PG Rose

SG Gordon

SF Mayo

PF Beasley

C Love

I'd take that fivesome over a few NBA teams.

That's absolutely laughable. Ignore the hype machine. Besides the fact Gordon is better at basketball, Mayo's antics easily push Gordon ahead. In addition to Gordon, Mayo is also an inferior college player to Rose, Love and Beasley. NBA, I don't really know or care about. Mayo's future is something akin to Stephon Marbury -- nice stats for bad teams.

I'm pretty sure that team could win a national title this year. Two of the top 3 scorers in the nation. Beasley's the top rebounder and scorer so far. They combine for over 120 points per game.

Another pretty impressive performance for Illinois, as Okie State is going to win some games. Illinois is going to win quite a few games. However, they're going to struggle against teams with big time offensive firepower (at least ones that can somewhat matchup inside) -- the Illini will slow them down, no doubt, but will still struggle to keep up. I doubt this comes as much of a surprise though. Edited by Exile on Waveland

No reason they can't be 3rd best in the Big Ten.

Syracuse vs Ohio State tonight, this ought to be a very tough game for us.

I'm going to watch this game...there will be a lot of young talent on the floor.

I've only seen Rose live once, at the State Title game last year. He had like 2 points and really didn't do anything to a team he should've shredded. Not to sound like a sound bite [expletive] here, but he didn't look like a "killer" to me out there. I could be wrong and probably am given the sample size, but I do know he wasn't trying.
