In a bustling hotel lobby, Deron Williams acted as though he knew the question was coming: What are your thoughts on the [segment missing] situation? "I don't know who that is" Williams said bluntly. The former Illini star wasn't smiling. He didn't flinch but glared straight ahead. And he waited for the next topic.

Williams will know who he is real soon.

that's fine by me, without [segment missing], sampson won't have an insurance policy. the sooner that happens, the better.

Well, true, there isn't another Gordon (whoops, I mean "segment missing") but Devin Ebanks won't be so bad either.

ebanks is a far, far cry from....

I'm not sure anybody knows how good Ebanks is. All we know is that Gordon was ranked around #3 and Ebanks is ranked around #12, so while Gordon is better Ebanks is also supposed to be a prolific scorer.

I echo Bruno's sentiment that I hope Illinois destroys Duke. In fact, I hope Illinois does great in the non-conference part of their schedule. It only helps the conference to have its teams do well.

you think talent like [segment missing] comes around every year? i can guarantee you that it's going to be a long, long time before indiana sees anyone of his talent again, ebanks being better than we think he is aside.

i don't normally wish evil to befall people, but i hope some people get hurt and never walk again.

All because he changed his mind on Illinois? How many times did you change your mind as an 18 year old?

Meanwhile there are two individuals in Illinois' program who are lucky they are still able to walk. That "decison" was worse than Gordon ever made.

i keep telling you, i don't know who that is.

even if i did, right or wrong makes no difference to me on this issue. i don't care what the rules say, i don't care what the whole state of indiana says, i'm going to hold a huge grudge and you would, too--regardless of how old a kid is.

Grudges are fine, but my point about stupid decisions still stands.

Stupid decisions like say, hiring a cheater, and then acting surprised when he gets caught cheating again? Yes stupid decisions.

Well, I'm 19 and I don't change my mind much.

Your the exception then.

I teach 18 yr olds and the ones I have on a daily basis have a hard time making up their minds on what to have for lunch.

Yep, have fun with that.

Anyways, go Illinois, but just for tonight.

IU knows the feeling of being deserted after supposedly landing major recruits. May did it, and then Josh Smith did it. So it's not like IU's fanbase is completely foreign to being left at the altar at the last minute. I happen to disagree that there needs to necessarily be a huge grudge towards the kids that do those sorts of things, but to each his own opinion.

Good luck this year. The Illini should have the best defensive squad in the conference and that makes them dangerous. If anybody is going to shut down Gordon and White in the Big 10, it will be Illinois.

josh smith went to the nba, that's way different.

Nice showing by Mizzou tonight, upending Maryland 84-70. I think we got a pretty good read of what this year's team will be like in these past two games. Hopefully we can stay competitive throughout the year. We've got some pretty big games coming up with Arkansas, Cal, Purdue, and Illinois.

1. Ebanks will likely be very good, but Gordon is special. IU hasn't had someone like him since Isiah, and I hope we're fortunate enough that we get someone like that every 25 years. That would be a great rate, in my estimation.

2. IU looked good tonight (95-71 over UNC-Wilmington), but I still want to see them tested against a good team. I'll reserve judgment on exactly how good they are until then. They likely play Xavier Saturday night, then Georgia Tech Tuesday and then at Southern Illinois the following Saturday. We'll know a lot more after that. Southern is the non-conference game I'm most worried about.

3. Go Illinois, kick the crap out of Duke. I kind of think the Illini might win this game. I wish they played Marquette tonight and Duke tomorrow, though. That way, I think, they at least come out of Maui with one really good win. I think they'd beat Marquette tonight for sure, Duke is more questionable.

He also never made a campus visit. Anyone that naively felt deserted wasn't paying attention.

Northwestern wins 95-63. Their 95 points were 10 more than the previous Carmody-era high. They had a shot at 100 points for the first time since what I can only assume to be the beginning of time, but they ran down the clock in the last couple of minutes.

Great work from Lyons on the offensive end, and Keon made some big shots in the second half too. The bigs did a great job of forcing turnovers defensively as well, and as a whole we did a nice job weathering an awful perimeter shooting night.

what purpose does trent meacham serve? honestly?

illini players getting called for fouls while on the bench. every single time down the floor the refs are callinga foul for absolutely nothing, no contact, nothing.

and illinois opponents have yet to miss a free throw in this tourney.

Its no big deal. Your right, I would probably feel the same if the roles were reversed.

Just turned your game on. Of the 10 fouls called on Illinois how many are legit?
