I penciled this game in as the only one the Cards have a shot at winning. The matchup couldn't be better. Their best starter vs. the Brewers worst.

This could be the best chance for the Cards to win a game.

Please God (asking God because I don't think we can count on LaRussa)

Pujols pinch hit in every game of the Astros series. Edmonds pinch hit during the series as well. There's a chance Pujols could start, and in the very least they should both be able off the bench.

The guys I'm going to root for to win the game for the Cardinals are Schumaker, Cairo, Wainwright, Wellemeyer, and Percival. I mean sure I'll take a Jim Edmonds walk off grand slam, but it would be way sweeter if it was one of the 5 guys I can stand.

So I guess the Cards will play a junk lineup, huh.

Blah -- I can't really blame LaRussa but that sucks. I think there's a real good chance the Crew sweeps the Cards. Hate to say it.

Now the news of Bradley being out for the year for SD. This thing is *NOT* over, folks. The Cubs must manage at least 3 games in the final week, IMO. They've got to take it not just back in.

What do you mean? Are the lineups posted yet?

The Cards have no choice but to play a junk lineup.

Oh. I thought they were even pulling their junk lineup for even more junk lineup. They'll win 1 of these games. I'm thinking today Wainwright steps up.

Hell, they just beat Oswalt last night. So they aren't useles.. Hopefully.

At least Pujols is available to PH.

And Soul your right this thing isn't over yet. But if the Cubs go 2-4 we've all but clinched it. With Lilly going twice potentiall and Z going once, I find that hard to not accomplish. But then again, these are the Cubs

Plus, we aren't facing quaility pitching. The whole Marlins series the pitchers have ERA in the 5's. If you can't take 2/3 or sweep these guys you might as well pack it up. This should be over by Friday.

We got swept by those fools earlier this year.

Here's your Cardinal lineup for tonight, compliments of Bernie Miklasz:

Eck 6

Ankiel 8

Taguchi 7

Ludwick 9

Cairo 5

Miles 4

Bennett 2

Wainwright 1

Ryan 6

I think he meant Ryan to be "3," at first base though.

That's some serious thump right there.

I'd like to think Milwaukee is done anyways, but they've been fighting hard. If it helps the Cubs, I'll root for the Cardinals. (yeah, that is hard to say). All we really have to do is win both series and it's over. I'm not totally confident, but I'm getting there. However, I'd rather get some help and clinch as early as possible.

Yeah, but that was during the dark days of this season. Anyone could have swept the Cubs then...and sometimes did.

That's one bad lineup. I'm finding it hard to believe the Cards can take even 1 game this series. Better hope the Cubs keep winning.

That was actually right about the lowpoint of the season. The two games after being swept by the Marlins were the Barrett-Z fight and the Piniella ejectio. The Marlins also had a lot going for them at the time that has long since passed. Expecting 2 of 3 isn't at all unfair, and not getting swept the last two series is all the Cubs really NEED to do.

Folks, if you think that's a tank lineup, you'd do well to look at yesterday's against Houston. And the day before.

That's just who they have right now - it really is that bad. And Molina's season is now done due to surgery.
