It's annoying that he is going to end up in total have missed nearly a month worth of games this year because I think had he not, he would be one of the top MVP candidates, especially if this Cubs finish this thing, which looks like its gonna happen. Even if he had only played 20 more games, he probably would have had 4-5 more homers and 13-14 more rbi, and add what he will do these last 7 games, which could be 2 or more homers based on how he's swinging the bat and 5ish rbi. That means he would have his total numbers look around .315 avg, .375 obp, .565 slg, .940 ops, 33 homers, 119 rbi, and the most clutch and best hitter on a division champion. Anyway just interesting to think about, but knowing that he missed too much to win the award, World Series MVP will do.

and just think about it, he had a 2 month stretch where he hit like 3 homers, take that out and put in his usual pace, he hits like 40 homers this year

Aramis Ramirez is one of the most underrated players in baseball.

exactly. if dude was in new york or boston or even st louis, the major networks wouldn't shut up about him.

Nice that the big boys have stepped it up. Cubs could finish with 3 guys over a .880 OPS, in a season that has possibly be a slight disappointment for all three.

He has surpassed his cousin as a hitter and is easily out hitting him this year, yet if u asked someone at ESPN they would tell u how manny was for sure the better of the two.

I said that he is better than Manny but ESPN would still say Manny is better

Cousins. Once I found that out I realized they do look very similar, both in appearance and how they hit and stand and act at the plate.

I don't think it has anything to do with the city he plays in. He has a negative stigma around him because of his early career in Pittsburgh, and the stupid people in baseball(most analysts) won't let go of it.

I've been telling anyone that will listen how much Aramis reminds me of Manny when the latter was in Cleveland since he came to the Cubs, now I definitely won't shut up about it.

he's better than manny at this point in his career, but over the course of their careers manny was a much better player.

Count me as another who had no idea that Manny and Aramis are cousins, despite always seeing a lot of similarities among the two.

for ESPN to consider him an MVP it is necessary to have a quaint name like

"big Papi" or Manny with dredlocks, but if he continues this pace into let's say a WS (knock on wood, not Kerry that is) then he could sill claim a MVP.

As long as Derosa stays hot, I think he is the unsung hero of this team

I am not the least bit surprised. I always suspected it.

Aramis is a fantastic player. I can't get over how lucky we are that the Cubs are paying him much less than market value the next 5 years. It's a treat to watch him hit.

Man, when the clock struck midnight on the Cubs' exclusive negotiations with ARam, I thought for sure he was being fitted for an Angels jersey.

Thank god.
