Aramis wasn't exactly a stud defensive 3b when he first came up. In 2003, he was having a horrible season defensively until he got to Chicago.

Sure glad he wasn't pulled for defensive purposes in 2003.

I think it may also depend on who you pull him out for. Who else played third then for the Cubs? Who plays it for the Crew when they take out Braun?

As awful as Ramirez was defensively in Pittsburgh in 2003, it still looks a lot better than Braun's when you stack them up. Plus, Ramirez even then had a history of making the great plays and not making the easy ones. Braun can't do either.

I am glad that he wasn't taken out either, and I would take out Braun in less situations than Yost has.

Speaking of Aramis, who will beat him out for the gold glove this year?

He deserves it.

Nah, Zimmerman probably deserves it, though Aramis deserves way more consideration than he'll actually get.

Just for the record, I'm really glad Yost took Braun out last night. Just to make it clear, you know 8-)

Hunter Pence slammed the wall last night harder than anyone I've ever seen, and he didn't come out of the game. And Houston isn't playing for anything.

I thought they were just rolling over on purpose for the Brewers. Weird.

Well, he did eat the wall chasing a ball that went over the fence, so he did fail miserably. Had I not been angry at the result I may have fell over laughing at him.

Zimmerman has nearly twice as many errors.

Braun is a converted SS still learning the position so I think he could turn into an ok defensive player. Right now he's a hack and I don't have a problem with a defensive replacement if it looks unlikely his bat will be needed.

last night was a bad time for it though and the entire usage of the bullpen was horrible, bunting with Hart who was the best hitter up in that inning was silly, not pinch running for the pitcher who was probably done anyway was dumb. Yost is just clueless.

Braun was playing 3B at the end of his college career according to thebaseballcube. His playing SS through(at the latest) his sophomore year doesn't mean much to me considering the nature of everyone being a SS in college.

Yost(as I'm sure you've read) claimed Bush was coming back out for the 7th, but he tired going 1st to 3rd. I don't really buy that, but I can't come up with another reason as to why Bush would hit but not come back out. That was vintage Dusty.

thanks ned for allowing bill hall to play centerfield in the late innings of todays game. Nevermind that Corey Hart, Gabe Gross, and Tony Gwynn Jr are better center fielders. You went with your gut and it paid off for cubs fans.

Better yet, thank you Ned Yost for finding it important to pay back Albert Pujols for Prince getting hit earlier in the game.

You were only down by a run at the time of the Pujols beaning, and Pujols was only the first of 5 runs that scored that inning.

Clearly, payback was more important than a pennant chase.

No matter what anyone says about you, we think you are doing an outstanding job managing the Brew Crew. I hope you get a lifetime extension.

I'll add my sincerest gratitude to Nedly for his actions. Not only did he spur the Cards to victory, but plunking Poohoe is never a bad thing as far as I'm concerned. Thanks bud!
