It's after midnight, I'm tired, and the Cubs need to win. So I'm putting it in my hands to deliver us a win against the hated Cardinals. Pitching matchup:

Joel Pineiro: 5-3, 4.28 ERA, 73.2 IP, 84 hits, 43 K's/21 BB's

Ted Lilly: 14-7, 3.85 ERA, 180 IP, 159 hits, 149 K's/51 BB's

Hopefully my good luck from my football teams can translate to good luck for the Cubs this week. Losing 2/3 to the Bucs is about as bad as it can get. But with a win over the Cards tomorrow, we put them 3 games behind us. So yeah, this game is kind of a big deal.

Just don't lose, you stupid idiots.

I'm very excited about this game. Tomorrow in general, really.

1:20 - Cards-Cubs

6:00 - Bengals-Ravens

9:15 - 49ers-Cardinals

My whole day is set.

Tomorrow calls for skipping class and blowing money on carry-out pizza.

So there's no more order to game thread starters any more?

Kind of hard to have order when the people who are in line to start don't start.

If he's hopping a quick flight to Denver, watching the Cubs/Cards @ the airport, and then flying back to St. Louis...

That schedule would be correct. 8-)

Not having seen the yesterday' game, I was wondering if Pie would have caught that line drive in the second inning?

Now that Jones' hot streak is over how about Pie in CF today on out? Pie is just as crappy as Jones with the bat. He will strikeout just as much, will choke with runners on base just as much however, he'll do a few things Jones is incapable of doing such as:

1. Playing a superior CF

2. Occasionally beating out gb's to deep SS

3. If does put the ball in play with a runner on 1b, he's next to impossible to double up

He would have caught it. Jones broke the wrong direction, and then broke back and made an awkward and ill advised dive in a pathetic attempt to catch the ball.

That said, Jones isn't terrible on defense, and isn't bad to have in there when his bat is compensating. Right now its not.

I agree. It should have Pie time about a week ago. We need a spark... let's see if he is it.

I apologize again. It is technically Bob Sanders turn, and I am on deck. I should have made the start today, but I am still jetlagged from Europe and I was so depressed at the Bears/Cubs losses yesterday that I went to bed at 9:30 PM, so I wasn't up to make the start. I will go ahead and put up a thread immediately after the Cubs next loss (if they do indeed lose again this year ;)) because Bob seems to be MIA

And beer, don't forget beer. Most likely you'll need it.
