Oklahoma State getting killed tonight 37-10...to TROY.

Maybe the Gators second half defensive drought wasn't as bad as people thought...maybe the Gators first have defensive (and offensive) dominance was better than people thought.

Maybe a combination of both or neither. Maybe I am using the word maybe to much but maybe there's the maybe god who maybe holding a gun to my head and maybe forcing me to type maybe a lot...maybe there isnt.

I can't wait to get back to Ryan Field under the lights tomorrow night. It sounds like Evanston has indeed passed something preventing NU from hosting Ohio State at night, so that leaves just 8 Big Ten teams that we're allowed to host at night after Wisconsin became the first ban several years ago. No Big Ten games at night this year, though.

Even though there still won't be any students on campus for another week, it'll make for a good atmosphere. And not only that, but with likely record lows tonight, we'll be in store for great football weather.

By the way, Jones is already enrolled at NIU.

What do you mean by no night Big Ten games this year? Wisconsin v. Iowa next week is at night. Should be a great game. I live next to Ryan field, looks like all the night game lights are set up. Should be a good atmosphere.

Comcast just reported the Demetius Jones didnt travel with ND, and is highly considering transferring.

I said this after week 1. He's long gone.

can't say I blame him. If he wants to play college football... key word being play... it's pretty obvious that he's not going to get the chance at ND, with Joe Montana Jr. already starting as a freshman.

I've heard it's already a done deal. Awesome get for NIU :D

Jones is a good player, and he'll be a great fit for NIU. He just didn't fit Weis's offense very well. If they had that little trust in his passing game (as was obvious a couple weeks ago) I'm not sure why he ever came to ND, because they weren't suddenly going to start running the option again (or a more free flowing style like Jones is best in). I wish him well, as he seems like a good kid.

Mizzou's good enough to take the North, especially with Nebraska coming at home, but if we manage to do that we are going to get reamed something fierce by Texas or OU. We won't be able to stop offenses of that caliber unless something changes.

Has your opinion of Pinkel changed at all though?

They are good enough to take the North and have a 9 win season. I just don't know if I trust Pinkel to not screw it up and lose a couple of games they shouldn't lose.

The only thing that has concerned me about Pinkel so far this season is the way he goes completely conservative on offense once we get a big lead in the 2nd half. However, I was comforted by the fact that Pinkel came out this week and took the blame for it happening:

“First of all, I’m responsible for that,” he said.

He used the word “responsible” three more times.

“I’m responsible to get that fixed,” he said, “and I would suggest that I would do that pretty fast.”

I like hearing that. I think he understands the urgency that everyone is feeling towards this team. This is the most talented team we've had in awhile, and it could be our best chance for awhile to win 9-10 games and the Big 12 North. In the three years I've been at Mizzou, Pinkel has definitely improved as a coach and it's good to see him taking responsibility for the lack of consistent play in the 2nd half of games this year.

Doesn't matter. Things are coming together in Lawrence. Big XII N champs, 2007.

Good lord, that was the quickest transfer in history.

I'm glad I won't be here in a couple of years when Jones starts terrorizing Ball State.

I think what he is saying is Evanston keeps saying various football teams can't play the Cats at night, and the first that was banned from such night games was UW.

I'd feel bad for NW if it wasn't continually anally-probing the city of Evanston and its residents.

Great move for NIU, really dumb move for Jones. He isn't good enough to play in the NFL and he basically traded a Notre Dame degree for a Northern Illinois Degree.

it's not like an NIU degree is toilet paper. If he's motivated and smart enough, he'll be able to find a good job regardless of where he went to college. To some people, the chance to play a sport is really important, and if he didn't want to sit on the bench for 3 more years at ND, more power to him. I didn't decide on where I went to school based on where I would be good enough to be on the swim team, but I swam all four years at Holy Cross and if I'd gone somewhere else and not been able to swim, I would've missed out on a great experience.

alright i can agree that you are probably underrated, so i could see 8-4, however, your non conference schedule is still a joke. but i guess if the jayhawks could go 4-4 in conference that would probably be a good season.

by the way, for ku's sake, mangino needs to lose some damn weight. as a big 12 fan, its embarrassing.

u seriously think we're a 4/4 team at best in conference? We can do better. I look forward to beating u guys. Our secondary will be much improved.

And how is our fat coach an embarrassment to the conference?

We will beat baylor, OK St, CU and ISU

We will lose to aTm

We can win/lose KSU, NU, Mizzou

No Big Ten night games this season for Northwestern at home, I mean. We only get one a year and this is it.

I've heard that they won't allow tailgating after the game, so you probably won't be in for much noise after the game.

I'm actually excited for the Michigan/Notre Dame game today. I have no idea why. I guess I'm excited to see the young quarterbacks of each team's future duke it out. It'd be nice if Michigan actually won a game.

I thought OSU might surprise with their returning offensive weapons, wow. Getting beat Between the Hedges is one thing, getting punked by Troy is quite another.

Their head coach makes Pinkel look like Belichek..

andre' woodson is the best quarterback in the nation. today will prove that.

How is Andre Woodson going to prove he's the best quarterback in the nation against arguably one of the worst defenses in college football?

Haha. My, my, my. I'm guessing you forgot about KU in Big XII Conference Play.

2004 - Went 2-1 on non-conference play, 2-6 in Big XII Conference

2005 - Went 3-0 on non-confernece play, 3-5 in Big XII Conference

2006 - Went 3-1 on non-conference play, 3-5 in Big XII Conference

Somehow I don't think KU is gonna come close sniffing the Big XII North, especially with a very piss-poor road record. KU is 2-18 in Big XII road games under Mangino, and never fared better than 3-5 in conference play.

Some of KU's manageable conference games: Texas A&M, OSU, and Colorado are on the road. They might be lucky to win the Colorado game.

There is like 0 chance I'll be able to catch any of the Illinois- Syracuse game.
