hopefully the taste in my mouth isn't too bad from this series when i go see the cubs in pittsburgh friday. I guess on the good side, one-pitch rich is on the mound, and the only Cub game I've attended this year happened to be his most dominant outing (@Atlanta in June).

Am I the only one who's strangly optimistic about this pick up...Traschel hasn't given up more than 5 runs in a start since the 2nd week of the season...this is pitching in the AL East mind you...and hasn't given up more than 3 runs in a start since July 26...

 

I like our chances tonight...we just need to score a couple...

Why do people keep saying this is a terrible match-up for the Cubs? Penny is a damn good pitcher, but numerous Cubs have hit him hard and have good numbers.

 

I'm looking at the 6th inning and predicting the Cubs are down 4-3.

I'm going to watch simply because I didn't watch much baseball when Trach was with us. So I look foward to checking out his delivery and his popular slow pace. I'm excited about the new guy, in other words.

With Kendall being the clubhouse leader and proven winner whose been there and has the experience, it'll be really tough to play anyone instad of him. This injury could very well kill any hopes the cubs had for this season.

I'm pulling for Soto to play as well, but it does not bode well for getting a start behind the dish when you run back to third base on a ground ball with a force at any base. Small scale fundamental mistake, but it's mistakes like that a guy like Lou will notice from a guy who isn't proven at the major league level.

Penny is coming off a really bad start and in both of his last two starts, his stuff wasn't as good. That's probably why the Dodgers gave him an extra day off between his last start and today.

Not sure if I'm optimistic or not. I don't think it's a terrible deal as a veteran arm never hurts and I think Zambrano could use an extra day of rest to right himself (but that doesn't appear to be the plan).

 

Sometimes it's the moves you don't expect that come out paying huge dividends. Either way if we can't get our bats going consistently, it doesn't matter.
