I love the trading deadline. All kind of trade rumors. I, of course, would be a big fan if this were true, but I remain very, very skeptical.

I'm in the same boat. I'd love to see it happen, but I wont believe it til Bruce Miles clues us in or the Cubs.com website makes an official announcement.

Can't recall the specifics but, haven't we seen this type of rumor before? That is, someone who's supposedly close to the family of a Cubs target hearing of pending trade, 2004 comes to mind, can't remember whom.

Pretty much, yeah

who was it that was "reportedly" seen at the Cincy airport coming to chicago a few years ago? Kearns? Dunn? Weathers, even?

the trading deadline is fun, that's hard to deny. (or in the spirit of the week, I should say, "The reports about the deadline being fun are utterly baseless. Meaningless speculation.")

Yeah, this isn't happening.

But there is a part of you that is saying maybe this is true. Just maybe...

For those starting to drool at the possibility:

Dunn is a career .302 hitter at Wrigley with 17 homers, the 2nd most he's hit in active stadiums (Cinergy Field doesn't count anymore and GAB is obviously number one).

i've already been sold on the guy for a long time.

Still will not get my hopes up, it would be too awesome, and Hendry doesn't usually do awesome things.

Hahaha I love to hate reading wildly speculative reports.

It's just funny because everyone could be telling the truth, but not everyone's hearing it -- it's just a huge game of telephone.

But seriously, I'll cry if it's true.

I don't know about that. He's come up big with mid-season trades...

He pretty much stole A-Ram and Lofton from the Pirates.

yes true, Ramirez/Lofton was great, and Nomar was insanely awesome at the time it happened.

The next post will be someone who saw the Dunner at O'Hair with a bunch of suitcases and when asked why he's not in Cincy he'll reportedly smile and say "watch the news tonight".

Every year this happens and it's been Dunn already a couple of times (coming with Danny Graves two years ago).

I'll gladly eat crow on this one, but I don't expect to have to.

Right and quite honestly those were the only times we had a chance to go to the playoffs. Both times he came through...

I bet someone posted that diary because they knew an NSBB reader would find it and start a 50 page thread. He is now laughing at us as his dream becomes a reality.

I'm not buying it until Reds44 states that a trade is eminent.
