I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet.

From Rotoworld:

RHP Billy Petrick is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Iowa on Monday.

"I think we're to the point where we'll have our 12th pitcher back here [Monday]," Piniella said. "It's hard with 11 pitchers. ... We'll see what we do." Petrick will resume his middle-innings role out of the bullpen.

Interesting. Is Dempster not on schedule? I though they'd wait to add a 12th pitcher until he comes back.

Koyie Hill DFA?

Dempster's still on schedule. He should be back later this week. This is probably a move just to help them until then.

Koyie Hill is the only guy likely to be sent down (after passing through waivers). It's either him or a trade.

Could be Floyd to the DL too.

Yeah, that's true as well, but the last news on Floyd was that he'd be available to play either tonight or tomorrow night (of course he won't start if it's tomorrow because it's Zito on the mound). It would be a surprise if he suddenly went to the DL now.

I did. But, it was mentioned in an existing thread.

I'm hoping the same thing. I would hope that they could make a trade rather than send someone down in return for bringing up Petrick.

I think Marquis' short outing yesterday and the resulting taxing of the bullpen made it necessary to make a move now.

It's likely going to be at the expense of one of the catchers.

'At the expense' usually isnt a good thing to say. If you mean by at the expense of Koyie its fantastic. If its at the expense of Soto its bad.

It's a shame our AAA team isn't in California because Petrick would have a ton of frequent flier miles.

Word is that Hank starts his rehab soon. One of these catchers is being showcased, maybe as an inducement to taking freakin' Jones off of our hands.

Koyie's gotta be gone. He's two years older and no better than Bowen, making him reudndant on the roster.

Agreed.

With Murton and Pie gone, two other catchers on the roster, and no signs of Izturis or Jones being dealt, Koyie is in desperate need of an immunity necklace right about now.

how long has lou been talking about having 12 pitchers for now?

i'll bet they got confused and sent Gallagher back down

That would be completely pointless because he didn't even pitch yesterday. In fact, I don't think he pitched at all during the Astros series.

That's good comedy, but I think the thing they could do that is not entirely out of the realm of possibility and would get everyone rather upset is to option Soto.

I don't think there is any way that happens. I mean it's been what, 3 games? He's played good defense and he has the best arm of the three IMO. His offense as stated before, could only be an improvement. Hill's out of options, so if Bowen has options, my money is on his demotion. Or, Bowen or Hill could be traded, but I think that is a bit of a longshot.
