I was wondering how many members on this board have ever hit the exits earlier during a Major League game. I'm proud to say that I've never left a game early.

I usually do not leave games early. In fact, I often stay late. I have left early...though I've never left a Cubs game early.

Still, the earliest I've ever left was the seventh inning. And I only did that so I could drive for three hours and still make another game.

i don't recall ever leaving a major league game early. Had the Cleveland/Tampa Bay game gone to extras, I may have, as the kids were 2 hours past their bed time already.

I felt like leaving this past Saturday's game in the 3rd inning, but I've never left any earlier than the 8th.

2nd Inning....

Cubs/Cards game at Old Busch (circ 1998)...we score once in the first inning and my buddy and I were being obnoxious about how were were going to kick their arse....they proceed to score something like 5 in the bottom of the first, shut us out in the top of the 2nd, and then score 6 in the bottom of the 2nd...(on their way to scoring in every inning of the game...An MLB First at the time I'm pretty sure)....maybe it was cowardly...but after the smack we talked...and the beating we were taking 11-1 at the time we left...watching the rest at the Bar seemed like the logical thing to do. (we did watch the rest of the game, if that counts for anything)

I've only left early once. I was living two hours east of Atlanta and had to work very early the next morning, and the Cubs-Braves game was lasting a very long time. Tom Badwin had 5 hits that game, Sammy had 4 RBI in the first two innings, and the Cubs were leading 15-5 in the 8th inning. The game was already pushing 4 hours long at that point, so we left, and as we were walking out, Javy Lopez hit a meaningless HR to bring the Braves to within 15-6. Every other game I've been to, including about 12 minor league games, I've sat thru the entire thing.

My very first Cubs game in 1970 went into extra innings but we had to leave at the end of 9 because I had a Scouts meeting that night we needed to get back home for. I think that's the only time I left a major league game before it ended.

6 Inning, in '05 when it was the Cubs vs. D-Backs and Zambrano got it handed to him.

I leave minor league games all the time.

I've left HS/college games after bp/infield before the game started plenty o'times.

I don't remember ever leaving a game early. I've certainly never left a Cubs game early, even though I've been to two complete blowouts (Maddux gets it handed to him against Milwaukee last June and the Hudson grand slam game against Arizona last July).

Day after prom in the pouring rain against the Brewers. Raul Casanova hits a grand slam in the 7th to make it 9-1. 8th inning comes around and the bases are loaded up for Sexson. Our dates who got increasingly impatient due to the rain and cold asked if we could leave. I said if they hit another grand slam here we'd leave. Sexson crushes it and I walk out without saying a word.

I fled a Cubs/Marlins game in the fifth at Pro Player back in 2002. We were getting our asses kicked, and I had a three hour drive ahead of me that night.

It wound up as the last game I ever saw Don Baylor manage.

Until I had kids, I could say likewise.

I was at the Red Sox/White Sox game last year that went into 18 innings. (I had seats behind home plate so I said why not)

Greatest game ever. I love extra innings especially when the Cubs are not involved in it.

Since I've been in control of what time I leave (i.e. basically being old enough to drive and not going with my parents) I only left one game early and that was because my girlfriend and I had to pick up her sister from the airport and we left after the eighth inning. Only missed a 1-2-3 ninth.

In other words you weren't really in control of when you left that game either; she was. :D

i left in the 10th inning of this game

somewhere in the middle of this nonsense

BREWERS 10TH: WELLEMEYER REPLACED HILL (PITCHING); KIESCHNICK

BATTED FOR VIZCAINO; Kieschnick homered; Young singled to

center; Podsednik walked [Young to second]; Jenkins homered

[Young scored, Podsednik scored]; Sexson struck out; Helms lined

to second; Vander Wal walked; PEREZ BATTED FOR OSIK; Perez

tripled to right [Vander Wal scored, Perez scored (error by

Grudzielanek) (unearned) (no RBI)]; Clayton struck out; 6 R (5

ER), 4 H, 1 E, 0 LOB. Brewers 12, Cubs 6.

it was so hot in the bleachers, we were all miserable, and then that inning was happening so we got out of there.

Is this the game?

Did score three, and give up 11 early. No other game from 96-00 really matches what you say. Nasty first inning.

I've never left any sports event early - though I was almost tripped up by a cricket match that they went off for bad light, then came back on half an hour later for 10 minutes.
