6 homers, everyone talks about the Soriano contract, but if Lee isn't going to hit for power his contract isn't very pretty either.

But his is cheaper and done 4 years earlier.

He is making as much as Pujols, there is no way he deserves that if he isn't 40+ homers. Our one real chance in this game is probably a Soriano homer. He is the one guy we have that you can really hope to change a game around with one ab. Although the contract sucks he is more of a game changer than Lee.

Okay, fine, but Lee makes less than Soriano and his contract expires sooner, so it's a little easier to swallow than Soriano. I'm not praising the guy. I've been scared of his lack of power since last year.

Part of it is I just don't like DLEE. I haven't since we got him. I think his d is very overrated and I think the only way he is on a championship level team is as a suporting cast member. Which would be fine if we werne't hitting him 3rd and paying him a ton of money.

Man do we suck at getting runs in situations where it should be simple to score!

Before last night, we had the worst batting average (.233 or something close) with bases loaded.

I reiterate --- the Cubs choke in pressure situations!!

weren't you proven to be laughably wrong on this point in another thread?

Mr. abuck1220 (superstar),

The Cubs are DEAD LAST in batting average with the bases loaded. I call that lack of clutch hitting.

And btw, stop being an ars

Actually they're not.

And they're third with RISP.

uh....yes, they are....dead last in the national league.....that's what I meant to say.

Does it really matter??? they absolutely suck in pressure situations.

No, they absolutely suck in your one example of a pressure situation... I mean, if you're gonna say pressure situations, look at close and late... that's a lot more pressure than bases juiced in a blowout.

.413 OBP. I'll take it.

You can get a few guys with that obp without having to pay that much money.

Not unless they're pre-FA.

Fair enough. We have built our team around Mark Grace again though. I will admit though it isn't Hendry's fault that Lee got hurt right after he signed.

Youkilis hasn't hit FA yet.

Grace never put up a .413 OBP, and he put up a .500 SLG once.

Grace's best seasons were comparable to Lee's down season right now.

Right and since our organization doesn't value things like obp we don't have anyone who can do that in our minors. It's part of the reason our team is always worse than it should be.

Lee isn't going to put up a .413 OBP this year. His numbers are plummetting, to the tune of a 750 OPS in June.

Even if Rapada escapes this inning, Lou is stupid for putting a LOOGY in to face right handed hitters.

The brilliant pen management continues.

EDIT: Nevermind. My gameday got all glitchy.

Why the hell is Lou pulling double switches with a short bench in a close game? If this goes to extras we'll have pitchers, but no batters.

I thought he came in to face a lefty?
