He can't get major league pitchers, er..hitters...no, pitchers out. There doesn't seem to be anything physically wrong with him. We can't keep trotting this crap out there if we're going to get this thing turned around. How long can they tolerate Eyre sucking (and this goes back to the end of last year, it's not just this year) before they do something about it?

Oh, and Wuertz should be closer.

I thought we had too many relievers coming out of ST. Now I'm beginning to think we need to make a deal for someone (or bring someone else up).

I like Lou, but why on Earth would you bring Eyre in to pitch in that situation? I makes about as much sense as the Chewbacca defense!

Anyways, this is getting real old. And I stayed up till midnight to watch this crap?

Because they brought him in to face Shawn Green, who was 2 for 22 against Scott Eyre, then they threw in David Wright after they brought him in, who is David Wright

I'm thinking Dempster might be finding his way into last category soon. I know he's had his troubles this year, but it would have to be a damn good price to trade Z. JMO. Other than those 2, I think it's about right.

I wouldn't mind bumping Ohman down to the "Trade if possible" category...

Did Lou forget that Wright was on the bench? It pretty much came down to Eyre facing Wright/ Dempster facing Green....Wright is a good amount better than Green, Dempster is a decent amount better than Eyre.

exactly....with the way he has pitched so far this year there is no way you would want the eyre-wright matchup that you know is coming

Green is 9 for 21 against Dempster

Eyre is 1 for 3 against Wright

Dempster couldn't get his pitches located at all-letting him stay in to face Green would have been worse. There were just no good options at that point.

Eyre won't be released because Hendry doesn't admit to mistakes

I can almost promise Lou won't use him, except in blow outs.

i don't care what anyone says, this pen is awful.

don't tell me that losses are a bad way to judge a pen or that their era isn't that bad. it's a poorly constructed, redundant, expenisve, terrible bullpen. there's not one guy out there that i would miss.

IMO, Eyre got the DP ground ball, but Theriot for some season gets the worst "jumps" on groundballs of any middle IF I have ever seen. I actually thought Eyre did his job today

By giving up a hit to the first batter he faced? Even if Theriot gets to that he isnt going to have much on the throw to 2nd and Delgado probably beats it out anyway. Eyre sucks plain and simple.

He gave up two hits on three pitches. He didn't do his job.

A ground ball is a groundball, it could be a rocket right at the 3rd baseman and we say the guy did his job, or it could be a dribbler through the hole and he choked. This stuff happens.

it would take a life threatening illness for hendry to release eyre.

suckiness has nothing to do with it (see: Rusch, Glendon)

Agreed. Eyre's job was to get a ground ball and he did. What are you going to do.
