Jones in center, Floyd in right, Izturis at SS, and no Theriot? Does he want to lose? It's the beginning of May. No one, save for maybe Barrett or Soriano, should need a day off right now. Especially with all the ones we've already had.

Who do you want in CF? At this point, JJ is a better option that Pie.

I'd rather see Theriot too, but not having them in there isn't going to cost the Cubs the game.

If Pie isn't going to start EVERY day, then he should be sent to Iowa where he can play every day. He's not going to start hitting better by sitting on the bench. And his defense in CF makes up for his lack of offense right now, IMO.

Theres no reason Floyd should bat second and Barrett 5th.

Barrett, Izturis and DeRosa all look variously lost at the plate. Theres no hope for Izturis ever, but Barrett and DeRosa might need to heal up.

jones hit the ball okay today

He had two outs that would have been long gone if the wind wasn't blowing in. Still got a double and a single on top of that...he was mashing today, and taking some pitches.

You know what, I think a different response is required to the title of this thread after today's game:

What the hell is wrong with Lou?! This team is actually winning!

Lou definitely deserves a "What the Hell?!" for the four pitchers in one inning. It was like watching Larussa manage a bullpen.

Have you met our bullpen?

Cotts was fine up until he started picking (which ticks Lou off).

Wuertz was fine up until he gave up the rocket double (which ticks Lou off).

Ohman is just terrible and had no business coming into the game.

Howry came in and saved the day.

I was proud of Lou and the way he handled that. Although i would have like to see Wuertz close out the deal, i completely understand Lou's decision process.

As for Theriot not starting, i can see it. He just doesnt have the range or arm to be an everyday SS in the major leagues.

In other news, Barretts OPS has now dropped sub 7. We need to find someone that can protect ARam.

I agree, what a bonehead decision. Cost us the game today. :?

We won some games with Dusty coaching too. Doesn't mean he made nothing but good decisions in those.

Edit:

I am upset I haven't seen Lou get tossed yet, though.

This is true. He's been more calm than I thought he would be.

I seriously wonder if Lou is getting pressure from Hendry to start Izturis.

I don't think that's it-I just think Lou changes his mind constantly on just about everything. Things seem to be tried, then discarded, and then tried again. I'm sure Theriot will be back in as starting SS in a week or so, and then he'll probably be out again a week later-it's been a very strange process so far this season.

hendry's job is on the line more than lou's. if hendry likes getting a paycheck he probably shouldn't be doing anything that would lead to izturis being on the field.

He's waiting until May 28.

I'm pretty sure he's waiting for June 1.

Not sure about Lou, but this post definitely deserves a WTH.
