It's always better to discuss 1 topic in 1 thread that to have them scattered around.

 

Always? I wouldn't have even seen it if it was only in the game thread.

I don't think any out-of-game topics should ever be locked in favor of the game threads. The game threads can be waaay to long and full of waaay to much fluff to be worth reading to find some comments about something like that.

In this case it's referring to the Other Games thread, which hardly ever are more than a couple pages.

I think if there's no thread that obviously refers to the subject from the title (no one would look at "other games thread" and know that there's a controversial moment, ie toriiiii and his champange/getting plunked deal-e-o, discussed there) that another thread should be allowed if only to provide the linkage.

He violated a little-known MLB rule by send the Royals 4 bottles of Dom Perignon in recognition of their sweep of Detroit at the end of last season, allowing the Twins to take the division.

 

MLB Rule 21-b, "Gift For Defeating Competing Club" states that anyone connected with a particular team from offering a gift or reward to a person connected with another club for an attempt to defeat a competing club. The giver and receiver, without notification of the commissioner's office, are subject to ineligibility for "not less than three years."

 

Given that the Royals sent the bottles back, unopened, upon being contacted by Twins GM Terry Ryan, I'd hope Hunter could avoid anything stronger than a reprimand and/or a small fine, but this is Major League Baseball we're talking about, so who knows.
