HEADS UP

They are going to have some sort of Sammy HR tribute coming up on SportsCenter, leading to his 600th

It was actually showing him hit a home run in all the parks he's homered in.

Sosa hit number 595 to cap a 5-run third tonight. Bomb to center field. #7 on the year.

Stupid FSNSW is showing the Astros game instead of the Rangers game.

If he keeps this up, I'm going to make a road trip to Arlington pretty soon.

Vance, are we drinking a beer or two (10?) in June?

I caught this in a restaurant. It was awesome.

On a side note, I really like Texas' uniforms, but the lettering on the front of the jersey is terrible. Maybe the worst in baseball.

I will do my best. I have a ton of family with me, so I don't exactly know how much free time I will have.

I plan on getting to the games for BP and everything, so we should definitely meet in that lull time between BP and first pitch.

I'll be in town the Monday before, so if you come to town early let me know. I'd love to get away from the in-laws for a bit.

I'll bitch about the Rangers for a bit.

(1) The sleeveless look is awful, and they wear it both on the road and at home.

(2) I liked them better when they used the Senators' old colors.

(3) They should be Dallas. Pro teams taking states' names is goofy.

The reason they aren't Dallas is because they are located in Arlington which is half-way between Dallas and Ft. Worth. Actually, they are closer to Fort Worth than Dallas.

I know the Cowboys are going to be relocating there and keeping the Dallas name, but I think the Rangers were going for a more regional appeal at the time.

I agree about the sleeveless jersey's, it should be nothing short of a visual warning to people pining for a Cubs sleeveless.

Yay for HGH!

Sammy is a fraud and always will be.

Go play in the street or something.

He's allowed to have an opinion, no matter how baseless it may be..

Baseless? I don't need court documents to know that Sammy's physical development required something more than a normal workout routine. I think you'll also see a transformation in his body from 2005 to 2007. Strange how a seemingly washed-up player goes away for a year and comes back bigger and hitting home runs again. Hmmm, I wonder... But don't ask Sammy about it, he can only speak English when he's praising himself.

I don't need documents to judge the intellectual ability of posters either.

Yea, because anyone would be stupid enough to make a roid-induced comeback when millions of people are already questioning him about his past because he thrived in the steroid era.

Sosa is totally that dumb.

I think it annoys Sosa haters whenever I defend him as much as when they act like ignorant morons about him.

SO YEAHHHHH SAMMMMMMMYYYYYY

WHOOOOOOOOOOOO

I LOVE SAMMY SOSA!!!

I really have no personal affinity for Sammy, but I am definitely rooting for him this year.

I mean, if he even manages a remotely decent season, that would be a pretty remarkable comeback, considering his precipitous decline/year off.

i hope sammy gets 600 this year, and bonds takes over aaron this year, and they hold a press conference together and totally sing each other's praises and embrace.

There is no test for HGH, so what does he have to lose? He's not the only one, but it's naive to think that a significant number of major league players aren't still using performance-enhancing drugs.

if sammy puts up an .875 OPS or higher and hits 30 bombs this year, that'll be a heck of a signing for Texas. How much are they paying him?

I don't know how much they're paying him, but I'm pretty sure I remember it being a minor league contract. Anything more would have been a huge risk, and probably one I would have mocked Texas for taking.

Posted
They signed him to a minor league contract with a base value of $500,000 and incentives that, if met, could make it worth about $2 million. I don't know what the value of each incentive is, though.
