While he did hustle nicely on the steal, he didn't even attempt to slide at home and was tagged out easily. In the 4th inning, Bonds let up on an easy fly ball, electing to catch it on the first bounce. A run ended up scoring.

If someone steals a base and only DirectTV subscribers and locals see it, did it really happen?

Haha!

Good question.

The announcers are raving that Bonds has his legs back.

They also said he joked that he's going to bunt for a single one time when teams put the shift on.

I think he sacrificed his glove to get his legs back.

He's been sacrificing his glove for a couple years now.

I still don't get why he doesn't play First Base, where his poor mobility doesn't hurt his team as much as his play in Left Field.

I'd be willing to bet it has something to do with his ego. I can't see him agreeing to something like that.

When I saw the title of this thread, the first question that came to mind was "Why is Bonds stealing bases? Doesn't he make enough to buy his own?"

When you have it in your head someone is a cheater, you always expect the worst.

Now watch as ESPN systematically attempts to rebuild Bond's image in anticipation of his breaking the record.

They want to hold their grand celebration, they'll need a more likable Barry Bonds.

I won't ever recognize Barry Bonds as the home run king. Not ever.

I'd be willing to bet it's due to his knee. Having a bad knee could affect his mobility on groundballs to either side and his ability to stretch for a throw to first. Not only that, but you're talking about a guy that has never had to field an infield grounder in a game in his 22 major league seasons.
