Purdue is a real up and coming team. They play awesome defense and Painter has an amazing recruiting class coming in. If those guys can maintain the team defense but raise the offense to another level, watch out Big Ten teams.

And good for Tim Floyd. Dude had a rough rough time in Chicago, nice to seem him bounce back on his feet and be successful again.

Purdue's definitely a team to track, but they'll almost certainly take a dip next year. Losing Landry and Teague is a huge blow -- those two accounted for a huge part of their offense. I'm a huge fan of Kramer, I think that kid is going to a great four-year player for them, but they return less than most Big Ten teams do.

As for their recruiting class, it's outstanding. I don't think it offers as much instant impact as some of the other Big Ten classes, however. Moore is likely to quite good next year, and Hummel and Martin may be too. Johnson is extremely skinny though and may take him a couple years. He's skilled and athletic though and does promise to be a very good player for them.

Finally, with the way Big Ten teams are recruiting all of a sudden, Purdue is going to have to keep it's recruiting damn near this level to compete yearly at the top. That will be more difficult with IU once again a factor in in-state recruiting and the possibility Michigan hires a real coach (though since their past three coaches are Steve Fischer, Brian Ellerbe and Tommy Amaker, I'm not sure how likely that is).

It's becoming painfully obvious that Steve Lavin is extremely jealous/bitter of Ben Howland and UCLA as he is leading the "UCLA is winning ugly" crowd for the second straight March.

That's really unfair on Lavin's part, I think. Indiana and UCLA are (were) both good defensive teams -- and when two really good defensive teams square off, it's likely to be an ugly game. UCLA is 7-1 in the tournament the past two years, pretty good, don't you think, Lavin?

Ben Howland is an awesome coach. Easily on the top coaches in the nation. Steve Lavin? Um, not so much...I certainly wouldn't be surprised if Lavin is jealous and/or bitter.

My Gawd, I'm still hearing whining over Cuse not making it in.

Alright, fine -- the process isn't perfect. Next time win a couple more games so you don't put yourself on the bubble, kk? thx.

Hopefully Georgetown makes a nice long run, combined with DePaul and Cuse continuing to do damage in the NIT. Certainly the Big East can't be as disrespected next year as they were this year.

Before you know it we will have a BSC type system to determine who all goes.

Where did Thad Matta coach before he went to Ohio State? I can't quite remember...

He was a long time assistant coach for Chuck Daily in the NBA. I don't know if he had a college coaching gig though.

Xavier, which is what Andy was going for, since they talked that up during the Xavier-OSU game.

Yeah, about 500 times-just for info, before that Matta was one of those coaches who spent a year being the head coach at Butler.

To defend the media, that is a pretty big story especially with Matta leaving Xavier in the manner that he did. Obviously the media is going to focus on that sort of thing. The same goes for Ben Howland and Pittsburgh. Also, in Matta's case, he was facing players at Xavier that he recruited to the school. Of course it's going to be a big deal and the media is going to talk about it a lot.

they do this in every game. During the entire DePaul/KSU NIT game, they talked about Huggins at Cincy and Wainwright at Wilmington.

Howland recruited Aaron Gray.

I know CBS likes to get back to their regular scheduled programming in the second weekend, but with only 8 games per day on Thur/Fri, it seems a shame that they compress the airtime and still have multiple overlapping games. Throw us a bone and show ua as many games as possible please!

4 games per day. Odds are anyways that one of them won't be all that great, and they'd probably miss out on a lot more viewership by stringing them out over a workday.

Have I mentioned I hate Aaron Gray yet? Cause I do. He's just a big oaf.

He is flat-out bad. I watched the Pitt/Gtown game just to laugh at how bad things happened every time he got the ball. Didn't change much against VCU.

Supposedly he was very sick during the VCU game. I'm worried about him - 7-footers give UCLA fits (even if Gray isn't as athletic as the Lopez twins or Spencer Hawes).
