No, Del Rio is AWFUL. He is easily one of the bottom five coaches in the league. The team has no discipline on or off the field. It's not just his lack of control, his in-game tactics are brutal. He's terrible.

The WR's are big and athletic, but struggle getting open and catching the ball. They're slightly above average at best. Honestly, I think that's a little generous.

QB is certainly the biggest problem. However, unless it's a move to a top-tier QB (which Culpepper hasn't been in a few years, and may have only been once), they won't be an "elite" team. They'd be better, but nowhere near elite.

I've never found Del Rio to be that bad, but they could certainly do better.

"Elite" may have been too strong a word, but they would definitely be a very dangerous team. One of the better teams in the AFC, consistently.

They'd be improved. They're already a borderline playoff team that won 12 games in 2005. Not sure their ceiling is much higher. The AFC still has the Colts, Patriots, Chargers, Steelers, Ravens, Broncos, Bengals. It's a pretty strong conference without a lot of upward mobility.

With a good to great QB, though, I think they go from somewhere well below the Colts and a little ahead of the Titans and Texans, to right there with the Colts.

You are very right that there's not much upward mobility in the AFC, but the pieces are there for the Jags to fight with the Colts - they just need a QB.

AP[/url]"]ASHBURN, Va. -- A paintball shot in the groin left rookie LaRon Landry unable to practice when the Washington Redskins opened their minicamp Friday.

............

"I didn't know paintball was that dangerous," linebacker Marcus Washington said. "I hope it wasn't friendly fire."

Landry was on the sidelines when practice began, but within minutes he left and began laboring slowly up the hill toward the team's main building, appearing to favor his left leg.

It looks like Vick will not be named in court documents surrounding the dog fighting at the home in which he owns.

Link.

Federal authorities have filed court documents outlining an alleged dogfighting operation at a property owned by Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, The Associated Press reported Friday.

Vick is not named in the documents.

Additionally, Vick is unlikely to be indicted in the dogfighting federal investigation, according to information gathered by the NFL and Atlanta Falcons, sources tell ESPN's Chris Mortensen. The authorities have told the Falcons and league that there has not been any evidence that can be tied to Vick with the alleged dogfighting ring, the sources said.

That's hogwash. The fact that it all took place at his friggin HOUSE and neighbors have testified they saw him there doesn't count as evidence now?

Talk about special treatment.

Tarik Glenn retiring?

http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070720/SPORTS03/707200535/1100

If this is true, this is an absolutely huge blow for the Colts. They do have a 2nd year player who played well last year, and they did draft Ugoh this year in the early 2nd round, but Glenn was a Pro Bowl caliber left tackle that has protected Peyton quite well his entire career. He has always been a superb pass blocker, and that will be missed. I can understand his decision though-retire before you get too beat up.

So, what's the latest on LJ's possible hold-out?

The RanchReport deals with a rumor he might be dealt to Dallas.

Link.

In summary, nothing to it at this point.

While that would be nice, I am still holding out for the Browns to continue there suckiness, and that 1st round pick for Quinn turns into Darren McFadden.

I'd happily take Larry Johnson...but yes, I'd like to have McFadden as well.

All we have to do is convince them to start Brady Quinn from the outset.

Hello, first pick.

Whats the status of Joe Thomas. Quinn should wait for him to sign before he signs. He might of already, I don't remember.

I think their odds are better with Frye or Derek Anderson, who should never have started for anyone to begin with

After failing to pull in Keyshawn and taking a guy who wasn't any good in college (Paul Williams), the Titans upgraded their receiving corps with Eric Moulds.

I kinda like this move, Moulds isn't the greatest receiver in the game or anything, but he's had 67 catches each of the past 9 seasons - better than any of our receivers. Plus, he adds a little veteran leadership to our group of baby receivers.

Mark Bulger just got an extension. Wow thats a lot of money for Bulger, who to me, is not an elite QB.

St. Louis Rams quarterback Marc Bulger, who skipped a mandatory meeting Thursday when the team reported to training camp, has agreed in principle to a six-year, $62.5 million contract that secures his future in St. Louis beyond 2007.

Marc Bulger

Bulger

Bulger's new deal includes $26.5 million in guaranteed money, sources said.

That's just the conundrum of the NFL-teams can't really afford to let good QB's get away because they are so hard to find.

Bulger did have a very good year last year. 62.9% completion percentage, 4301 yards, 24 TD's, 8 INT.
