Fun Facts for you Bears fans:

2005: Offensive Rank: Defensive Rank

Pittsbugh 15 4

Seattle 2 16

2004:

PhilLY 9 10

N.E. 7 9

*143 yrs separated the two teams. New England still gave up 9 yrds fewer per game then Philly.

2003:

Carolina 16 8

N.E. 17 7

*less the 100 yrds separate the two teams. But New England still gave up 4 yrds per game less then Carolina.

2002:

TB 24 1

Oakland 1 11

----------------------------------

2006:

Chicago 15 5

Indy 3 21

-----------------------------------

Raiders Carolina Philly Seattle Indy

YPG 389.8 321.3 351.1 369.7 379.4

PPG 28.1 20.3 24.1 28.3 26.7

Now compare that to those teams who won the SB(plus the Bears):

T.B. NE NE Pitts Chi

312.6 314.9 357.6 321.8 324.9

21.6 21.8 27.3 24.3 26.7

Since 2002, the team with the BETTER ranked Defense has won the last 4 Super Bowl. That’s right the team with the BETTER RANKED DEFENSE has won the Super Bowl, regardless of how “talented”, or “vaunted”, their opponents have been hyped to be. Tampa Bay and Pitts, inparticurally have set the gameplan on winning the Super Bowl. And if this trend continues….Peyton Manning---who is ranked as the #1 QB in 06---will fall short of his attempt to remove the monkey off his back. (and yes I know the AFC has won the last 3 titles, but I think that ends Sunday night)

*(Gannon was the #2 QB in 2002, Delhomme was 14 in 2003, McNabb was 4th in 2004, and Hasselbeck was 4th in 2005)And considering Manning is #1, the trends says that Manning will not get that monkey off his back this yr.

And add in the fact that dome teams are 1-2, since 1990 in the Super Bowl, I kinda like the odds of the Bears winning. And with these stats, I’ve provided, it makes me wonder how these “pundits” go about how they chose the Colts as the favorites to win? If for nothing else, whoever set the Colts as “7 point favorites” is going to cost a lot of people a lot of money in 2 days.

Thes aren't just STATS, they are trends.

So again, I’m going to say it…

Bears 28-Colts 17.

Bears 28-Colts 17.

Even as you pointed out though-two of those Super Bowl games games, the defenses were practically the same-all it took was one garbage time drive in the regular season in one game, and only 2 out of the last 4 best defenses would have won the Super Bowl. Second, even though you posted the QB rankings for the losers, you didn't for the winners. I bet that the best QB won at least one of those games, and possibly a second.

Third, the Bears have bad trend lines themselves. Common opponents favors the Colts, the overall AFC record against the NFC, and the fact that AFC playoff teams were a combined 21-3 against the NFC this year (I'm pretty sure of this stat, but it is second-hand).

Fourth, the Colts playoff defense is different then the regular season-with Bob Sanders in there, it's like it's a completely different squad taking the field then before.

Fifth, the Colts have been breaking trend lines all year. No team has finished the year as poorly as the Colts did and come back to go to the Superbowl. No team has made the Superbowl with as bad of a run defense ranking as the Colts. They took out Baltimore, and improved the dismal record of dome teams outside. Tom Brady was 12-1 as a playoff starter, and 10-0 inside a dome-the Colts broke those two trend lines as well. The Super Bowl won't be nearly as hard of a trend line as trends the Colts have faced previously.

With that said, this should be a great game. The Bears have a great squad, and 1 or 2 big plays should make the difference. I'm confident enough in my squad to think they will make the plays, but the Bears are more than capable of making them as well.

STORM HEADING TO FLORIDA

Really classy. Let's put a Diamondbacks logo on the falling World Trade Centers. If only the people who made that would have known just how scary that was for all of us down here. So many of my friends knew their houses and everything they ever owned and cherished was going to be destroyed as we watched that image of Katrina barreling down on the coast.

Did anybody hear Michael Clark Duncan? He said he would play the Super Bowl FOR FREE, if he could dress out and play for the Bears. And I think he speaks for most of the Bears fans when he said that.

Btw; Michael Clark Duncan did tryout for the Bears back in the 80s. He wanted to play LBer, they wanted a TE.
