AFC Championship: Colts vs. Patriots - Sun Jan 21, 5:30 CST

It was a ridiculous call made necessary by a ridiculous rule.

But was it the right call?

According to the rules, yes. But that doesn't make it any easier to digest. I think the rules should be amended to give more discretion to the officials.

I would agree-make it like the face mask penalty, where there are 5 yard and 15 yard versions, and then it would work better IMO.

The most ridiculous thing I heard recently was that the officiating in the Bears game was poor because the Bears were only whistled for one penalty.

A-doy?

Whatever happened to a well disciplined team? Do they no longer exist? Clearly the Bears just didn't COMMIT penalties, not that the Reffs didn't CALL them.

If the Bears had been assessed 7 penalties and the Saints only one, I guarantee you the Bears game thread would've been replete with complaints about the officiating. Not saying it was a poorly officiated game - although the one offensive PI call on the Saints was terrible - but that's the truth.

I understand that its tough being outnumbered 300-1 by Bears fans on a forum, but you've grown to be incredibly rough with them.

EDIT: Actually, going back to the NFC Championship game, I just found you hunting for a fight. Nice job Truffle. You're no better than a troll. I've lost all respect for you.

Sweet, Truffle can join me as a troll on the board. Excellent. Glad to have company now. 8-)

Yeah, because after all, that's all he's asking for. A fight. He has better things to do than look for a fight, but the point he makes is very valid.

And now I'm prepared to get flamed for being a Packer fan and a troll.

Forgot about you. Always with that damn pro Notre Dame agenda. You're in. Maybe I should start a thread for all us trolls to converse amongst ourselves. A "Stupid Trolls" thread perhaps.

I tried to say something to Truffle but then I saw that he earlier just went in a Bears thread and out-of-the-blue just started asking for trouble " Well if Devin Hester did that earlier, blah blah blah..." C'mon. It wasn't even talked about until he brought it up again.

Sometimes people look for negative attention. You know it. Get over yourselves. Just because someone is a fan of a non-Bears team doesn't mean he can do no wrong. Sure you guys catch a lot of flak, but that doesn't mean you guys can get away with anything.

Truffle was pointing out that Devin Hester celebrated the same way (sans flip) against the Rams on one of his kick returns and that some Bears fans who ripped into Reggie Bush and call him classless for what he did, praise Devin Hester (not all Bears fans do this but some do).

Watch this video. On both returns Hester does a Deion strut the last few yards to the endzone and then dances after he scores the touchdown. On the second return he points backwards while he's still running. Now, besides Bush's flip, please tell me what the difference is between Hester's celebration and Bush's.

The point is all Truffle was doing was pointing out that Hester has celebrated in the same way that Reggie Bush did. But some Bears fans, who were so quick to chastise Bush for his actions, gave Hester a free pass for his actions because he plays for the team they root for. It works both ways and apparently you fail to realize that.

Dissect the game if you wish, but the troll-mongering grows tedious.

If you are talking about me, I said very clearly in one of my posts that I have seen Bears players do it too, and they DO NOT get a free pass. I don't care who does it, it's immature and doesn't belong on a professional football field.

Go back and reread my posts if you don't believe me.

And what more needs to be said to get you to drop it already? I said I was done with it many hours ago. I guess that just isn't good enough.

Au contraire. You were actually the one I was specifically thinking of who did not give Hester a free pass and admitted to not liking his behavior either. I thought it was you who didn't like Hester's actions and was actually going to say that but I wasn't sure so I left the name out. Sorry I made it seem like I was calling you out and misinterpreting your statements in the other thread as that was not was I was trying to do.

To be fair, you more resemble a form of hobbit or halfling than a troll.

Seriously, though, if anyone has issues with what they think is "trolling", PM a mod. There's no need for anyone to be this generation's McCarthy just because not everyone agrees with what you think perfectly.

Let's stop with the Bush thing. It really wasn't all that bad, and he did apologize for it right after. Urlacher didn't even seem to really care (but then again, he never seems to care about much else than the game). It was Ogun who came out and chastized Bush, but he hadn't heard about the apology yet.

I think it's a non-issue. As is Hester's nearly identical taunt.

I don't even think Ogunleye should be saying anything. I saw him mimicking the referee's safety signal, and I know he'll celebrate after a sack. Unless you're Barry Sanders and you never celebrate on the field, shut the hell up and quit whining about other people showing you up.

Mimicking the ref's safety signal? Seriously man, your trollish anti-Bearness has gone to new levels. He was calling for the refs to make the safety call. Considering it took them 10-15 seconds after the play to make the call, it made perfect sense that a player would be making that signal. Guys do the same thing when a player gets in the end zone. Their is an enormous difference between mocking an opponent mid-play, and signaling a safety or TD after it has occurred.

Yeah this is akin to complaining that players signal "no catch" or make a facemask gesture.
