This is crazy:

Tennessean.com[/url]"]

Kyle Keown, a four-year member of the Vanderbilt football team, was arrested last week on charges of domestic assault and aggravated assault following an off-campus incident.

............

According to sworn affidavits obtained from the Metro Police Department, during the early-morning of Dec. 1, Keown began striking his ex-girlfriend, Sarah Treichel, in the Elliston Place apartment occupied by him and Commodores backup quarterback Richard Kovalcheck. When Kovalcheck intervened, Keown began hitting him.

After the 6-foot-2, 215-pound Kovalcheck struck Keown in self-defense, the 6-foot, 195-pound Keown "then grabbed the victim by the groin, and began squeezing and pulling very intensely."

Keown eventually released Kovalcheck, and the two went to separate bedrooms in the apartment. Keown then entered Kovalcheck's bedroom through a balcony entrance "holding a large knife above his head. The victim stated that the defendant told him that he was going to kill him."

Ugly #s for Nicholson, but from the brief amount of the game I watched it didn't look like he was getting too much help out there. Constantly pressured and no running game to speak of. Hopefully this isn't used against him for next year.

He should get the starting job next year, pretty easily too. Ryan Morris, who will be a Soph next year, and Billy Lowe, a redshirt Freshman next year, will be Nicholson's only other competition. Novak loves playing the older guys, so if he doesn't win the job, I will be very surprised. TCU's defense manhandled NIU's O-line the whole game. I don't think this game was a fair way to judge how Nicholson will play in the future.

Thanks a lot for choosing NIU to be in that lousy game. Why not Kansas? They could've been much more competitive, and the nation would've gotten to see an extremely obese football coach.

Because Kansas is the root of all evil.

man, how can you hate Kansas' football team? I'm definitely rooting for Oregon State because of that comment.

Ahahah.

I can hate Kansas' football team because it is Kansas.

Mangino is a sight to see though.

Just one more time for fun.

Infamous Georgia Tech, QB, Reggie Ball dropped below a 2.0 last semester and will not be eligible for the Gator Bowl on Jan 1. Taylor Bennett will start. What a way to end a college career. 15-56 in the two biggest games of his career and he fails out of school in his second to last semester. He will have to re-apply to even get a degree to fall back on.

I can't decide if that makes it more likely that GT will win in the Gator Bowl or lose-my first instinct was like when any starting QB goes out, that this would make them much more vulnerable-when I stopped to think about it, I'm not so sure about it-depending on Bennett's talent level, it might actually make them better, especially if Bennett will get the ball to Calvin Johnson.

Calvin Johnson deserves 3 minutes alone (with a bat) in a room with Reggie Ball to pay back what Reggie did to his college career.

Bennett is a much better pocket passer than Ball - much better. He can't make a play or run for 8 yards and pick up a 3rd and 7 as Ball could. My question is whether Nix will open up the offense for Bennett. Bennett throws a really nice ball down the field and Tech is going to have to score TD's to win this game.

Ball's anticlimatic exit has many feeling sorry for him as a basically wasted away his senior year of college. But, it seems to have energized the fan base to see what Bennett can do as he's going to be the QB the next 2 years.

Yes, he's a junior and is coming soon to an Oakland Raiders or Tampa Bay Buccaneers near you.

Thanks. I assume that Tampa would get him and the Raiders would want a QB or is Simms done for his career?

Simms is probably done in Tampa, but I doubt they pick until #3. If the Lions lose their last two, they have the #1 pick and likely go with Brady Quinn. There's not another really good quarterback on the board, so the next two picks are probably Joe Thomas (T, Wisconsin) and Johnson. Both Tampa and Oakland could use OL and WR help, so I doubt those guys get past #3.

Desmond Howard at his finest. Picking the Cal/Texas Holiday Bowl as his most intruiging game, not realizing that Cal plays A&M. How does he still have a job?:

LOL. Teachers on full tenure are jealous of the job security of former football players turned color commentators 8-)

Didn't Millen just shell out a bunch of cash for 2 QBs this offseason?

Here he goes again, picking up a ton at one position and forgetting about the rest. The Lions need so much more than just a QB. I'd try to assemble an actual, you know, football team first---lest the "Great QB" I draft wind up just like Joey.

Yeah he did. And now the backup QB is actually more productive than Mike Williams at WR.
