It should be a close, and hopefully entertaining game. I'm picking OSU to win because the game is in Columbus and because I think they are a little bit better than UM. If the game was in the Big House I might change my opinion.

I'm not a fan of either team so I won't be disappointed if one team wins and just want a good game. It's not likely that it will live up to they hype it's getting but few games of this magnitude ever do.

Even though I am an alumni, I cannot say I am a fan of OSU. I'm not a big Michigan backer either. However, I will say that Ohio State will destroy Michigan this weekend. I don't even think it will be close.

Jim Tressel is twice the coach of Lloyd Carr, has as much talent, and is playing at home. He's also has a 4-1 record against Michigan and he's never lost agains Michigan at home.

Columbus will be more crazy that normal, which is saying something.

38-10 OSU

Other stats:

24 couches burned, 10 sexual assults, and 15 arrests for drunk and disorderly. It would be more but Clarrett is already in the pokey.

Michigan 31, Ohio State 20, but it's not as close as it looks. Troy Smith completely craps the bed and blows the Heisman.

If OSU puts up 38 on Michigan's bad ass defense we should just crown their ass this saturday and forget about a NCG.

Tressel is a great coach. Very underrated nationally but no way are they putting up 38. If they couldnt do more than 25 last year against Michigans sorry defense, they aint gonna do it this year unless Henne gives them 2 pick sixes and they turn the ball over like mad.

That's because Tressel used to be an assistant at Syracuse! :D

if ball state can put up 26 on them i think osu can easily put up 38.

osu wins 27-13.

and for the millionth time, "o$u" is incredibly lame.

Ball State a pick 6 and a safety=9. The 2 late TDs were against 2nd and 3rd stringers.

Michigan is 3rd in Total Defense Yards and 5th in Scoring at 12.1. I can see 27 on a really good day, 35+ is pushing it.

After watching my teams get spanked by one and then an onside recovery away from driving for the tie against the other, I've deduced that those 2 games probably have little to do with this outcome.

That said,

Michigan: 30

OSU: 14

I love how one coach can "own" another with only 5 games played. Michigan/OSU games are almost ALWAYS close, even in down years for either side.

2005: 25-21 OSU

2004: 37-21 OSU

2003: 35-21 MICH

2002: 14-9 OSU

2001: 26-20 OSU

2000: 38-26 MICH

1999: 24-17 MICH

1998: 31-16 OSU

1997: 20-14 MICH

1996: 13-9 MICH

1995: 31-23 MICH

Ooo, if UCLA wins, they'll qualify for a bowl game but won't be invited (unless they can somehow beat USC too).

Does that mean I was right about the 6-6 teams not getting invited until after all winning record teams get invited? Even if true, UCLA would probably still get a bowl as they're a pretty big name, and IIRC when I did a quick estimate a few days back it looked like about 8 6-6 teams would go to bowls.

Yeah, I think you're correct. I would think 6-6 teams would only get invited after teams with winning records. In UCLA's case, the Bruins can be invited at 6-6 but up to eight Pac-10 teams might qualify for bowl games and the conference only has ties to six bowl games.

But there are going to be conferences that fall short of their tie ins. The Big 10 has 7 tie ins and 6 teams who are eligible. Even if one of Minnesota or Indiana pulls off an upset next week to become eligible they'll still be one bowl short due to the loser of OSU/UM going to a BCS at large.

But now after looking over the rest of the tie ins there really aren't that many openings. Poinsettia has an at large team built into it, but that's the only one. It'll all depend on how bowls are required to stick to their tie ins. So if Arkansas St. is 7-5 and Indiana is 6-6, who is the Big 10 bowl required to take? I certainly don't count on the media to provide me with the answer, since they've barely grazed on the 6-6 situation to begin with, and continue to say Notre Dame stands to make 14M from the BCS.

I've always enjoyed this battle between these two but IMO Army/Navy is always THEE rivalry game of the year.

If Michigan wins that knocks out ND/Ohio State from the BCS Championship game and an Ohio St win knocks out Michigan/Texas because in no way should this game be a rematch after so many other teams deserve a shot.

I also thought that wins against Div 1AA teams didnt count. I am pretty sure one of Iowas wins is against a 1aa team. If this is the case they also need to win to be bowl eligible. If Im wrong just scratch this whole thing.

Agree. If Michigan and Ohio State were both 3-8, nobody would give a crap about the game. Army and Navy frequently both bad, and it's still a great game to watch. Plus I was in the Patriot League... I got to see how much the two academies look forward to the chance to beat the other.

For now you are correct, but there are still three more weekends left in the season, so who knows if anyone will still deserve a shot then?

6-6 teams shouldn't be allowed to a bowl period. It's already ludicrous that close to (if not more than) 1/2 the Division 1-A teams go to a bowl game every year. There have to be SOME standards!

If Michigan wins, doesn't that help ND's SOS even more, even though they lost? I don't think the computers take into account rematches.

BTW, I am now kinda hoping for a rematch in the NC game. I remember how fun it was in 1996 with FSU and Florida

I didn't see that game as fun. I think if a team blows it's chance another should get one. These teams only play 12 games and IMO there is no reason to play a team twice.
