Well, that's the second time the Irish got lucky enough that the opposing team played the end of the game specifically to give them another opportunity.

And really, I understand Raisin's frustration, but everybody else could use a few deep breaths. The NBC broadcast is the equivalent of an ND home broadcast, it's to be expected that the team is favored in commentary, and this is no worse or better than any top 15 team that was outplayed the entire game only to squeak one out. It just happened to happen to ND twice.

To ND fans, the team has so many holes, it's a wonder they're still in the top 15, and unless they find an O-line, a run defense, and a secondary in the next few weeks, they'll get blown out either by USC or an other top team in a BCS bowl. Consider it fortunate that the opponent played not to lose twice and it paid off both times.

How is this game any less pathetic than USC-Washington? You guys are showing off the epitome of the smug ND haters as much or more than me. I just told you what I've seen.

You're really lucky I have to bite my tongue since I'm a mod.

I'm honestly curious as to why ND beating UCLA by 3 is any less an indicator of an average team as USC beating UW by 3. Both games at home. Both with a strong amount of luck. How is USC going to kill us based on that? You guys have a very good defense and you made ND work for everything.

You really don't get it.

It's not being explained very well.

I made a prediction. Similar predictions have been made literally thousands of times in threads like this, college, pro, baseball, b-ball...why is this any different? Because it came from an ND fan? Because another NSBBer's team was involved? Because it was about an overrated team? I don't get it.

Personally, I was very impressed with the pressure UCLA put on Quinn today. While I think we COULD beat USC, right now we are not playing near well enough to hang with them.

That said, ndistops is bigging pretty smug, but lets not act like week in week out that aren't many comments that bash Notre Dame. I don't approve of his attitude, but every university has smug fans and people that hate them.

Mizzou gets their first win in 13 years vs. KSU, 41-21. The defense played exceptionally well, only gave up 14 of those points, all late, the other 7 were on a fumble return for a TD on the first play of the game. Forced 4 turnovers, and Chase Daniel goes for 4 passing TDs. Great win for Mizzou in the pouring rain and horrible weather.

I hate Missouri.

here, here!

You gonna make the trip down to Columbia for the game, snood?

i just moved to LA, so no. I probably wouldn't anyway. Daniels is gonna light us up.

I wasn't issuing a prediction. I'm (shocking, I know) a little mad right now and you're not helping this situation by being the average ND homer when you post crap like this:

UCLA's doomed.

This is why people don't like Notre Dame.

I've seen this movie a lot of times, and it always ends with a Quinn TD.

See?

That comment wasn't directed at you, but at Vance and TT who said I was being egotistical by saying they were doomed (which admittedly should've been put in less harsh terms).

I've been as angry as you are now, and probably worse, at many points. I'm sorry if I exacerbated it.

And look, I know that ND has no business in a national title game based on their body of work. And also that they're going to do nothing in the next four games to change that, because against Navy, UNC, Air Force and Army, what can you do? But I'm not going to sit here and say I'm not glad that, mathematically at least, ND's still alive, because I'm a fan.

All I see is him making a prediction, it coming true, and him quoting the prediction. Happens all the time in Bears game threads or Cubs game threads. Maybe it can come off smug in text, maybe he was being smug, who knows? ND didn't deserve to win it, especially that way, but they did. Quinn did play well despite the rest of the team doing almost nothing, and they pulled out a second game they deserved to lose.

I understand being a UCLA fan has to be really frustrating, especially having watched them outplay a largely board-hated ranked ND team for about 50 minutes, but I don't happen to see anything wrong with a fan of a supposedly "neutral" team making a prediction and being happy when it comes true.

There is some serious hypocrisy among board members on trolling regarding specific teams. I understand it for the Cards, this being a Cub board. I somewhat understand it for the Sox, despite it being a pot/kettle thing most often. I don't understand it for ND, and really don't think that's fair.

So...how do you let Samardzija get behind you when ND needs a TD with 30 seconds left? I mean, honestly?

Yeah, the defense just look confused the last few plays. They were on the field far too long.

Svoboda/Dorrell need to stop getting conservative. I just want Svoboda gone already, he's a nightmare. And nothing the NBC crew was saying was pissing me off more than when they were compliment Svoboda and his play calling.

Yeah, the offense was doing well while they were still mixing it up. Running the same play up the middle 3 straight times on that last possession was basically giving new life to a team that had just practically been defeated on a failed 4th down play. Not even trying to get a first down was near Zona-esque calling there. I'm not sure the NBC announcers really had much of a clue what was going on all game.

wow..Cal and Washington going to OT on a tipped pass with 0 left on the clock..It looks like Rocky Top is about to come back and beat Alabama.

Quoting yourself and saying "See?" sure makes it seem pretty smug (putting it mildly). Hell ndistops himself said he should have put his first post less harshly.

I agree that nd isn't trolling or anything. If things were flipped, I wouldn't post something like that about UCLA, whether or not there was an ND fan on this board, especially not if an ND fan was posting in the thread. Doesn't seem polite. You can celebrate your team winning without going over the top.

Maybe you should read a Bears thread before making such an assinine comment.

Or should I quote every "celebrate your team winning going over the top" comment I find from last Monday?

ETA: I was rooting for UCLA too, but this makes me upset...
