I wonder who else they might consider adding to the deal from the minors to get Jones though?

Hansen maybe? I know he's considered a 'top guy' as well...but he isn't contributing to the big club like Lester is right now. At least they could afford that move on a 2006 basis.

I'd like to see the White Sox go after Murton.......Cintron for Murton? eh????

How about Josh Fields for Murton and McClain, and then we trade ARam for Aybar and Santana. Then we will resign ARam during the offseason and move Fields to LF.

How you like dem apples?

I'd do Fields for Jerome Williams, Matt Murton, and Wuertz

Seriously?

Done.

I wouldn't do it, not a huge fan of Fields.

An update on the Soriano situation from Rotoworld:

ESPN's Steve Phillips believes the Dodgers have the inside track on acquiring Alfonso Soriano from the Nationals.

He says the Twins, Astros, Angels and A's are also involved. The Mariners, Red Sox and Marlins look like lesser possibilities.

Given the source, take it with a grain of salt.

I miss the midnight deadline. I remember a few years ago staying up late to see what the Cubs would do. The year I remember in particular they traded Scott Downs for Rondell White. I don't know why that one sticks out in my mind.

Jayson Stark says there are 2 teams Soriano can be traded to. One is an AL team and one is an NL team. Twins is probably the AL Team and Garza is probably off limits.

Please Soriano to Minnesota!

The cards tried to get Dontrelle and were turned down...

St. Louis Cardinals Updated:07/31/2006

The Cardinals offered the Marlins a package including Anthony Reyes, Chris Duncan and prospects for Dontrelle Willis, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. GM Walt Jocketty said the Marlins are not interested in trading their ace.

Kruk is sweating profusely and his face is getting extremely red. Get that man some oxygen. How can ESPN expect him to be on the air for 2 straight hours?

Why would anyone want to watch or listen to him for 2 hours?

Who is the minor league pitcher we got for Todd Walker? What a waste of a very good second baseman. It is also interesting that Philips said the Fathers wanted Walker to play third for them. Interesting, considering he is regarded as a mediocre fielder by many, whether true or not.

How do you figure a waste? Todd Walker is very mediocre 2B (average fielding at best, little power, no speed, .280 hitter). What do you think they could get for him?

He came into the league as a 3B with the Twins and they have Barfield at 2B. My guess is they figure they have nothing to lose putting him at third.

Wow--so who is on the Pirates now? It seems like they traded 1/3 of their team in the last 24 hours.
