Does anyone else on this team care?

From Cubs.com:

"Let's just keep playing, and catch whoever is in first place in the Wild Card," Zambrano said.

I like the one in my sig better, if I'm understanding correctly he was embarrased that Maddux did something he hasn't so he had to get in on it

Z is awesome...no doubt! I especially enjoyed watching him leg-out the single to David Wright at 3rd and then try to steal second. That was the first time in awhile Wrigley has been able to stand up and give a player his much deserved propts!

I recall in 2003 Dusty actually saying something like "Z will be better than Wood or Prior" ... he got that right!

To be fair, we have no idea how good Wood and Prior might have been if Dusty hadn't destroyed them in 2003 :x

Z and Lee are the only reason I haven't given up on baseball.

This man speaks for many of us

Hmmm... I'm thinking Dusty purposely screwed up Prior and Wood, thus improving his cred because he can evaluate talent.

Michael Barrett and his .909 OPS would like to meet you (and everyone who agreed with you) at home plate for a "discussion." [That's supposed to be a joke]

Lee has struck out 22 times since returning to the lineup 16 games ago. Lee will be a good reason not to give up on baseball when he's back to his '05 form.

We all love Z, but you know, we can't totally appreciate how awesome he really is on a team like this. I get a real kick knowing he's gonna pitch. I LOVE his attitude. You just don't hear that stuff anymore in this world of BIG CONTRACTS.

If they let him go, I'll lose my will to live!!!!

1. Z actually stole second base? Wow. That has to be a highlight of the year. Anybody know if there is video of this somewhere?

2. I make it a point to try to watch all of Z's starts because of how well he is pitching right now.

3. If Z would have got a 2-3 wins in April, he would be at the head of the Cy Young race this year. With 2 wins he's tied for the NL lead and with 3 he has the lead. He also has the seventh best ERA in the NL. Even still, he is on the short list with Glavine, Penny, Webb, and Arroyo.

Note: I realize that wins aren't a good stat for realistically evaluating pitchers but in the Cy Young voting that is the #1 criteria that is used which is why I brought that stat up.

Post of the day/week/month/year.

All at the same time.

Watching Z hustle to beat out that infield single, then steal second was simply glorious. Does anyone have the video of that?

After watching the game Saturday, I tried to explain to my aunt why Carlos Zambrano is so cool. She didn't understand. That clearly means that his coolness defies all words and joins the ranks of things that simply "are".

Awesome.

But dare I say you fumbled a bit in your verb usage, Carlos Zambrano simply "is".

Not to be a grammar nerd, but she actually said it right the first time. "Things" is the subject, so "are" is correct.

True. But Carlos Zambrano is a singular entity, hence he "is".

My quibble is that Carlos is being lumped into things (plural) that are cool, when clearly he transcends belonging to a mere group. Z stands alone. I stand by my original interpretation.

Nice save, Toupee

How's this, then: After watching the game Saturday, I tried to explain to my aunt why Carlos Zambrano is so cool. She didn't understand. That clearly means that his coolness defies all words and transcends into the realm of that which simply "is".

Now, I didn't say that anything else is/was/ever has been present in this realm, so it's all okay.
