Angola will win a lot of friends playing like that; they grew in confidence and stature during the first half and Akwa's got to put one of those over-head kicks in at some point, surely?

Portugal can be satisfied, but they seemed to forsake scoring for trying to score well, and in the end only got the one.

Portugal was pretty unlucky too, with chances like the Ronaldo header and Ronaldo's strike off the ground ball you're going to score a goal a lot of times.

Ronaldo is a bit intense...

And Angola accounted for themselves well. Portugal should be up by more that 1. If Angola can level it, I'll bet frustration will start to show.

My buddies and I at the bar kept count of the number of times Oswaldo Sanchez' dead father was mentioned during the game. 12.

Also, there were 8 mentions of Mexico having naturalized citizens on their roster.

I only watched the second half of the Mexico game. What happened to Borgetti?

After the first 15-20 minutes of the first half, Portugal didn't look that good against Angola. In fact the Portugal-Angola game was very similar to the England-Paraguay game. Both England and Portugal scored early, had a couple other chances, but on the whole neither looked very impressive.

Stupid work. I should be able to see a little under half the game at lunch, but it's going to kill me not seeing the end, especially if it's close.

I made sure to request off the mornings when the US was playing a month ago. I also requested the semifinals and the finals off a month ago as well to make sure I didn't have to work.

The only task for me is to wake up in time for the game...the movie theater business isn't very busy during the week, so I have the day off.

GO USA!

I have to get my new car's financing in order tomorrow morning.

All of you people who are able to watch the game live tomorrow upset me greatly.

Forget just working during the game - I'll be working during the game and for about 8 hours after too. You know I'm going to hear about the result somehow or the other. All the same, I am TiVoing.

Just get an illness for Christ's sake.

Mee too. There's about a 7 hour gap between the game ending and me being home to watch it.

And Seth, I wish I could get sick, but I'm the senior guy in my office, and if I miss, the place goes straight to hell.

It's ironic, really. I woke up with the stomach flu, but I can't not go into work. What crap.

Keys to game:

-Speed on the flanks: We have to be able to catch the Czechs upfield. They attack like crazy, and their mids can get caught way out of position. Need our wings to take full advantage of this.

-The back line: No. More. Mental. Mistakes. I'm looking in the direction of Cherundolo.

-Finishing: Whoever starts up front have to score. We're going to have chances. We just have to finish them. No more tanking clear headers, Eddie Johnson. No more weak shots, Landon. No more sucking, Josh Wolff (if you play, which I hope you don't). Finish.

I'm so pumped up for this.

Quoted for truth. and luck.

Side note: Australia just got reamed on that call.

I should have enough time for a short (hangover) nap before we play.
