Gather around children, let me tell you all a story. Today am sitting in study hall reading one of my Local Newspapers (The TIMES) when I suddenly came across one of the most amazing(ly bad) articles ever. You can read the whole article HERE

Here are some highlights:

Chicago's North Side manager should stay because he knows what he's doing.

Do not blame Baker for the injuries to Derrek Lee, Mark Prior and Kerry Wood.

Don't fire the guy for the inadequacies of soon-to-be-starting-catcher Henry Blanco, whose .051 batting average is almost one-sixth as good as pitcher Glendon Rusch's .286, whose ERA, by the way, is 7.31.

What I know about Baker is the following:

1. He's a winner.

Any club searching for the right guy would simply have to look at Baker, who's not Jim Leyland, but he's pretty darn close

I dont even know what to say.

i say give him a ten year extension. after all, he was in the on-deck circle when hank aaron hit 715. and the guy who caught 715? make him pitching coach or something.

Because this guy -- a player who was in the on-deck circle when Hank Aaron broke Babe Ruth's home run record, and a manager who very easily could have won the World Series with the Giants in 2002 -- deserves better.

What did he do in that AB? First pitch swinging like he preaches or base on balls which he used to do a lot?

Wow, just wow. Some of my favorite parts:

"Please don't forget that when Baker came to Wrigleyville, he took the Cubs to within five outs of the World Series. But I guess some Cub fans would hold him responsible for Steve Bartman's bonehead play, Alex Gonzalez's key error and the rest of the collapse, too."

Let's also not forget that he kept Prior in too long and put Dave freaking Veres in during game 7 instead of Zambrano or Clement.

"

And can we just remember that Baker guided the Cubs to consecutive winning seasons for the first time since 1971-72? Or that, in 2004, Baker became the 50th manager to win 1,000 games? Or that he's a two-time winner of The Sporting News Manager of the Year award?"

2 Consecutive winning seasons, wow, how impressive. And he won a prestigious honor such as Sporting News' manager of the year. Twice. Holy Cow.

"Because this guy -- a player who was in the on-deck circle when Hank Aaron broke Babe Ruth's home run record, and a manager who very easily could have won the World Series with the Giants in 2002 -- deserves better."

Pedro Feliz was on deck when Barry Bonds tied Babe Ruth, he'd make a hell of a manager! And it was Dusty Baker himself that blew the 2002 World Series--he doesn' deserve better.

Why did that guy even bring that point up? It has no relevance whatsoever. So he just so happened to be Aaron's teammate and just so happened to be batting behind Aaron that day. You know what that's called? Luck.

Don't forget pitching around the dangerous Lenny Harris to get to the weak hitting Lowell.

I sent him a polite Email telling him he was a idiot. I'll let you know if he replies.

As did I. That might be the worst article I've ever read. He didn't have any reasoning other than....the players stink, and Baker has a good reputation cuz his teams have been good. Oh, and he was on deck for a milestone home run.

guy has some points. cubs won a lot of games the first two years. however, the players have bought into too many of baker's excuses. a change needs to be made. they should be 3 under .500, not 10 under.

It's not even luck. It's just happenstance.

What the hell does it even mean that he was on the on-deck circle? It's like, "Um, OK, thanks for telling us." He's using that as support for his statement that Dusty deserves better. OK.

"Officer, I was in the stands at Wrigley Field when Sammy Sosa hit his 62nd home run. Can you let me go with a warning?"

Dumbest thing I've ever seen.

obviously the pitcher threw henry a strike for fear of baker bunting if he walked aaron.
