That is .208 ball

That is in no way "keeping your head above water", that's a complete implosion. 3 wins of those wins are against the Nationals and Pirates, 2 of the 3 worst teams in the league.

The Marlins, Pirates, and Nationals all have more wins in the month of May than the Cubs.

We've been as bad as the Kansas City Royals this month, and the only teams we've played that are in the top half of their division are Arizona and the White Sox.

The other 6 teams are the bottom two in their respective divisions, not counting the Cubs in the standings. They are also 6 of the 7 worst teams in the NL, recordwise to this point (again, not counting the Cubs).

We are 4-15 against those six teams (Brewers, Pirates, Nationals, Marlins, Padres, and Giants). That's good for an awesome win percentage against those teams of .211.

2 wins are when our pitchers shut out the other team and another 2 wins are when they held the other team to 1 mere run. In other words, we've won 1 game since April 28 when our pitchers have given up more than a run.

the run differential is 57-137.

That means they are being outscored 2.375-5.7 on average. almost 3.5 runs per game - that is some bad luck!

It could be worse. The smart money says that it will be. This is the worst baseball team I have ever seen.

i blame the grass.

I need some grass.

I need something harder.

And what are the odds that the Cubs will reach 70 wins in 2006?

And yet the national media still has yet to catch on. Of all the personalities on ESPN, Mariotti and Wilbon are the only ones that seem to see that Dusty needs to go. Any coincidence that they're the only ones actually paying attention to the Cubs?

Firing Dusty isn't the only thing that needs to happen. We need wholescale front office changes. I was always a big supporter of Hendry, but it's time for him to go.

In fact, I hope...that on Thursday, those changes occur. I wouldn't be too upset if they only let Hendry go, hire a new GM and let him make a managerial decision.

This team has gone down hill in a hurry. We could be contenders as early as next season but not with this group running the show.

There's another thread dealing with Peter Gammons talking about the problems with the team.

I gave Hendry the benefit of the doubt until this past offseason was over.

Once the offseason was complete, I was done with him. Worst offseason that they could have possibly thrown together with over 40m of budget space and tons of trade commodity. WORST!

He's got to go now.

I keep reading on various blogs about how nearly statistically impossible it is for even this Cubs team to be the most losing-est MLB team of all team...but I cannot, no matter how hard I try, picture these mutss winning 50 games, much less 70+. And that's with a healthy Lee. The pitchers coming back or getting back to form are moot...this offense can't win unless the starters go at least 6 full innings and keep the opposing team to 1 or 0 runs. Anything more and they're doomed.
