Pierzynski just said that his Zambrano imitation was because he had some family problems this weekend and he promised somebody he would point to the sky for them. As for the family problems, anyone think his wife found out about his philandering on the road?

I call B.S. on that explanation.

I think AJ knows how to play the media and deflect any blame off of himself.

BTW -- he also apparently clapped his hands several times as he was rounding the bases -- similar to how Z claps when he gets a hit.....

After yesterday's game, Mark Schanowski the Comcast studio host even said that, "you get the feeling that even when AJ was a kid and his mom caught him with his hand in the cookie jar he would say, 'no mom that is not my hand'."

He also said on PTI that all this is affecting his 9 month old daughter. Then I think he realized that was a foolish statement and quickly explained that it is affecting his wife and in turn that affects his daughter.

Such a matyr.

The guy is as phony as the day is long.

Note to AJP: Its a late for damage control on your rep.

If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, chances are its a duck.

Sounds like a taunt for Vance. Hey AJ how's your mistress affecting your 9 month old daughter?

Today on the Mike North Show they had AJP on there and in the background his kid was crying and his wife was running the garbage disposal. It was classic. He's full of it. Mr. Innocent. And now people wanna lump Barrett in there with him. That stinks. Whatever Barrett is, it's very different from AJ.

He about cried during that interview. Bad timing with the point afer the homer. But Z has to learn to take it if he gives it.

Bingo!!!! Z needs to shut his piehole.

AJ did an interview on the Jim Rome show on Monday (maybe it's been talked about already) he pretty much said the same thing about the home run pointing, saying he had some personal issue. Also, I guess Barrett and AJ have known each other since childhood. Maybe a little "brother vs brother" type fight there?

The funny part was AJ said before Barrett jacked him, Michael said "I didn't have the ball b****!" Kind of reminds of me of the Dave Chapelle skits on Rick James. What did the five fingers say to the face? 8)

AJ is AJ. I've followed his career since he played single A ball here in Fort Wayne. Although I don't recall any incidents back then. He definitely falls into the love/hate category.

Why because AJ was "showing him up?" Run the dang bases as a PROFESSIONAL (and not on your back, either) AJ. AJ....reminds me of Jack Parkman of Major League 2, in that he is BEYOND an pesk, and he bordering the level of John Rocker in terms of being hated in baseball. Well...AJ, I think has MOVED ahead of Rocker in terms of being hated in baseball.

Who thinks....AJ will want to sit out the three games at Wrigley? Cause I am willing to bet...if Carlos is pitching....AJ has one in his ear coming.

LOL. No AJ won't be sitting out 3 games at Wrigley. He's been pissing people off for years, why would you think he'd shy away now?

I wouldn't mind AJ in a Cubs uniform.

Have you noticed that poor innocent AJ wants it all to be over and to get on with his life, but has appeared nonstop on every TV and radio show since the incident. In each case, he talks about how innocent he is and they negative impact all of this is having on his life. Barrett sums it up in this morning's Tribune....... he (AJ) just wants to keep instigating and stirring the pot until they play the Cubs again. What a jerk!

OK-I've got to ask the question-

What has AJP done during his career that is so bad that he is being compared to John Rocker?

As far as I can tell-

He has a big mouth. That's a given. But until this weekend, I've never read a quote from him ripping on a teammate, or even a competitor. And his criticism of Barrett has been relatively mild, given the seriousness of the situation. He's never said anything racist, homophobic or even mildly insulting.

Someone took a picture of him doing shots at a bar with two good looking women. He is apparently the only MLB player to do shots with women in a bar? And of course, we have to assume they had sex afterward?

He's a "clubhouse cancer". Nothing negative was ever said by his Minn teammates-ever. Gardenhire goes out of his way to make positive comments. Ortiz is quoted today saying what a great teammate AJP was to him. The team won consistently while he was there. It appears the only clubhouse he didn't get along in was SF's which is notoriously disfunctional. Since he became a starter in 2001, his teams have won 3 division titles, one pennant and one WS. How much of a cancer can he be?

He got punched in the face by Barrett after a clean play, one that AJP has been on the other end of many times.

He doesn't fight, get thrown out of games, treat fans or meda poorly. No arrests, domestic batteries, DUI, drug allegations. If the umpires are annoyed by his mouth, they sure don't show it.

Someone help me here, I must be missing something. How can merely having a big mouth (without using it to trash others) put anyone on a public enemy list?

He kneed his trainer in the balls while playing for the SF Giants. Paraphrased:

"Are you okay?"

"No"

"Well, how bad does it hurt?"

"About THIS hard!" *smash*

Sheesh, why don't you marry him?

I've heard this one too, but it doesn't pass the smell test-

The trainer claims it happened during an exhibition game in Arizona (and I think we all know about the integrity of the SF training staff).

He claims that AJP took a ball to the nuts. When he went out to see if he was OK, AJP kneed him in the nuts. At home plate, in front of thousands of people. Yet the story went unreported until the day Pierzynski signed with the White Sox (10 months later). One writer claimed it happened when all the beat writers weren't looking, therefore it went unreported. Of course, thousands of witnesses saw and said nothing either. And no member of either team mentioned it to any writers when it happened. Right.

And no, I don't want to marry him. I just don't want to see the game woosified to the point where players who play hard are ripped on for it. And that's exactly where we are headed with this.

Looking around the Internet, the same people who say "we can't soften the game like this!" are the same ones who are outraged when Bonds gets drilled for hanging around on top of the plate.

The pitchers in SF had all kinds of problems with AJP. Apparently he wouldn't go over opposing batters with them. There were all sorts of comments about him not being a good teammate, etc..
