well, we finally won a game tonight. Zambrano was pretty close to unhittable and the Nats really didn't have an answer for us. We took advantage of some breaks on offense, for the first time in what seems like forever, and managed to get 4 runs. So tomorrow night, I expect more of the same and yet another Cubs win. Onto the pitching matchup:

Zach Day: 2-3, 5.85 ERA

Sean Marshall: 2-1, 4.93 ERA

Marshall's ERA obviously took a hit in his last start against the Giants. I expect Sean to have a solid outing tomorrow night and to lower the ERA tomorrow night. Day, surprisingly, has had 2 good starts in a row going 7 innings in both starts and allowing 0 and 1 runs in those 2 starts. It's time to get another win.

Ok, same plan as yesterday. Good job on the start Flame! Make the Nats feel sorry for us and suck up to their pitcher. Today's effort is by U2.

The heart is a bloom

Shoots up through the stony ground

There's no room

No space to rent in this town

You're out of luck

And the reason that you had to care

The traffic is stuck

And you're not moving anywhere

You thought you'd found a friend

To take you out of this place

Someone you could lend a hand

In return for grace

It's a beautiful day

Sky falls, you feel like

It's a beautiful day

Don't let it get away

You're on the road

But you've got no destination

You're in the mud

In the maze of her imagination

You love this town

Even if that doesn't ring true

You've been all over

And it's been all over you

It's a beautiful day

Don't let it get away

It's a beautiful day

Touch me

Take me to that other place

Teach me

I know I'm not a hopeless case

See the world in green and blue

See China right in front of you

See the canyons broken by cloud

See the tuna fleets clearing the sea out

See the Bedouin fires at night

See the oil fields at first light

And see the bird with a leaf in her mouth

After the flood all the colors came out

It was a beautiful day

Don't let it get away

Beautiful day

Touch me

Take me to that other place

Reach me

I know I'm not a hopeless case

What you don't have you don't need it now

What you don't know you can feel it somehow

What you don't have you don't need it now

Don't need it now

Was a beautiful day

Some prayers should help the Cubs out.

Yay and God said to Abraham, "you will kill your son, Issak", and Abraham said, I can't hear you, you'll have to speak into the microphone." "Oh I'm sorry, Is this better? Check, check, check... Jerry, pull the high end out, I'm still getting some hiss back here.

The Nationals have done very well against lefties this season with an .828 OPS, good for 5th in the NL. Hopefully Marshall will be on his game tomorrow night.

I am convinced Marshall will do very well since his mentor Maddux did very well his last start. Marshall only faltered when Maddog did (I don't count the D-Backs loss...even super Maddux cannot defeat his supernatural nemesis). As Maddux goes, so does Marshall. I just hope he isn't backed up by the same pathetic non-offense Greg got his last go-around.

We are awesome.

Go CUBS !!!

I'll be working during this game. I didn't check the exact record of the Cubs during my work days last season, but I believe it was something like 79-0. I think we're in good hands.
Posted

Cubs lose 14-13 after blowing a 13-0 lead when a Black cat holding a baseball in its mouth and with headphones blazing over its ears bites off Sean Marshall's arm.

Oh yeah, a goat is videotaping it.

Posted
hmm a winning streak does sound quite nice....cmon cubbies

Last CUBS winning streak was 24-25 April vs. Florida. [sigh]

we also won the 23rd vs. the Cards. So that was a 3 game streak.

Posted

Well, I got my Cubs tattoo yesterday by a Cards fan in Cards country during a losing streak and they won. I don't think my wife will let me get a new one everyday, so it is someone else's turn...any takers???

Hopefully, the Cubs decide they like this winning thing and keep it up.

Cubs lose, 83-7.

Come on...get real....7 runs??

Their pitchers will get so tired from running the bases that they'll let-up, and the defenders will just not have any interest in charging the soft ground balls with an 80 run lead.
