Could the Cubs possibly bring on Brenly to play skipper? I have to admit I do like his style of coaching.

What exactly would Brenly do different than Baker?

How would he handle the pitching staff differently?

How would he handle in-game strategy differently?

Advantage: No more hearing "when I managed the Diamondbacks" or "we won the World Series" from the booth.

Disadvantage: We'd have to hear Dave Otto instead

I thought of this last year when he was brought into the booth. My thinking was if Dusty got fired mid season, who would be a better immediate replacement than a guy who has watched the team all season. And he did win the World Series as a manager.

Lord knows we don't want Rothschild, Pole, Clines or Mathews running the team. Maybe Chris Speier's, but he has probably been tainted by the Crusty poison too.

Did anyone here Gammons on Mike and Mike this AM. When I got in the car I heard Greenie say in the last hour they talked with Gammons and from what Mike said, Dusty being fired was mentioned?

it'd be pretty foolish if brenly didn't use his experience managing the diamondbacks to help his broadcasts. knowing his history, i'm interested to know what the manager is thinking in certain situations.

I've maintained for awhile that the best former Cub that should be a manager (a managerial prospect if you will) is Gary Varsho. Sure, he's never been as high profile as Joe, never won a WS or went to an all-star game, never sat next to Girardi in the dugout...

...but he has worked his way through the Phillies organization including succesful stints as bench coach at the major league level and as a AAA manager. I'm not saying he should get this job, but he's at least as qualified as Girardi was before the start of the season.

For all the knocks on Brenly, he did lead a team to victory in the WS. Yeah, he mentions his past in the booth, but I would too, i think that gives the guy credibility. He couldnt' do any worse.

How bout Stoney as manager.

that would shake things up a bit.

Yea Kerry Wood would "accidently" zing one 98 MPH right at his forehead on May 17th.

I didn't say it would go smoothly...just that it would shake things up. :D

Brenly > Baker

too bad we missed out on Girardi though :x

Righttttt. Like we'd want a guy with a career .276 winning percentage.

what are we doing with a manager with a winning percetage over 500?

Brenley has this, a World Series ring, Baker dosent
