Is this one of the guys from the Sosa trade??

You're thinking of Michael Fontenot.

Interestingly enough, Fontenot and Theriot were the double play combo for Louisiana State's 2000 national champs.

oh. wasn't there a 3rd guy in that trade??

Yes, a minor league pitcher who immediately retired.

So, all we need to do is get Fontenot, Theriot, and Walker in the same infield...

Oh, and Theriot was drafted in the 2001 Draft in the 3rd round by the Cubs.

Surprise, surprise. Restovich sent down.

He was really weighing down the team's average speed.

Still no word on who was sent down? It's pretty much guaranteed that it was Restovich that was sent down because that's what the stupid Cubs would do. Send down the only guy with power from the right side for another 2b. Not that Restovich was doing any good, but he's got more worth than freakin Bynum.

Absolutely figures. The Cubs' organization is really frustrating. Why is Bynum on this team? How many 2b do we need? Instead of doing the smart thing and releasing Bynum Hendry does the easy thing and sends Restovich down.

I guess this shouldn't be a surprise.

So what percentage of the roster can play 2B now?

I really thought Bynum was the one to go. I guess the Cubs see something I don't. Then again, maybe they don't see something I do!

20. If you want to include Cedeno, it's a little more than that.

dude has speed. he's valuable.

i thought this was going to be some kind of 'statement' move...and it was. the statement was that they needed another guy so they could go three deep for 4x100 relays.

fastest team ever???

In all seriousness I'm starting to wonder if Neifi's stock is down because his speed is just average and he doesn't steal bases.

Since we have until gametime to announce who is being sent down, any chance that we're in the process of finalizing a trade and it'll make an impact on who goes?

Perhaps it's just wishful thinking, but this prolonged silence is somewhat odd.

Agreed, I just made a similar post in the game thread. The secrecy is a bit strange, Maybe Hendry finally traded Walker?

dusty just gained a huge advantage because bochy doesn't know restovich isn't available.

First I laughed, then I realized it made a lot of sense, then I laughed again.

Then I cried.

Dusty cited his ability to "run and bunt" as reasons for bringing Ryan up. He thinks the move will light a fire under the other guys..........

How long until the Cubs get rid of their weight room and fill it with a bunch of treadmills?

Oooo, I like the "light a fire" remark. Next we'll hear he's a spark plug, scrappy, a catalyst, and a gamer.

Well wise old Baker...how many bunts does it take to finish a tootsie pop? One, two...crunch...three. So the strategy is now a drag bunt base hit. Sac to second...one out. Sac to third...2 out. Squeeze and hope it isn't the third out at first or home? Brilliant! Edited by CuseCubFan69

how many guys can play 2b now? 6?

Let's see:

Walker

Neifi

Hairston

Bynum

The Riot

Cedeno (if needed)

Am I missing anyone? I'm glad we've got that base covered now.
