We should poach Jose Oquendo from the Cardinals!

None of these proposed moves happen until we get Willie Greene back.

What's the point in taking Restovich off the 40 man now?

He is out of options, right? They had to outright him to AAA, which I believe forces them to take him off the 40-man and allows other teams to take him.

Oh, that makes this an even worse move.

Some of you guys are experts on the farm system, is there anyone even remotely close to being brought up to provide any sort of power for this bench? Hoffpauir seemed off to a solid start, is there any chance of that? Sing? anybody? This bench is beyond terrible.

Obviously Bynum should go. He's shown he's a butcher in the OF and he's redundant at 2B. He's also a lousy PH option.

Which means he'll be staying...

I really thought Bynum was the one to go. I guess the Cubs see something I don't. Then again, maybe they don't see something I do!

LOL!

Ummm...So if you're going to bring someone up to provide a spark, shouldn't you actually play that someone...or is Theriot just a "riot" in the clubhouse and thats where he's gonna make his contribution?

Dude, Neifi saved us. He has to play.

I don't care if Mabry can't hit his weight. He should be playing first and Walker should be playing second. I'm tired of watching Hairston miss signs and Neifi miss pitches every day.

Almost as tired as I am of seeing Pierre ground out to second.

BTW...don't we just have to lead the league in groundballs to 2nd by now...it can't be close....where can one find that stat?

Quoted for truth.

Its just beyond me why you bring a guy up and let him sit on the bench "sparking" the team.

Murton, Cedeno part two? At this rate we will never know!!!

Murton and Cedeno should have been starters. Theriot is likely destined to be nothing more than a role player.

Even if he is just a role player...this Greek Tragedy needs some new actors.

If he is or if he isnt, we will never find out this way. Besides at 2nd who is he getting a shot at replacing? Very expensive roleplayers.

I don't mean for this to sound the way it sounds but did Baker or Hendry actually say that they were trying to spark the Cubs by bringing up Theriot? It seems more likely that they just didn't like Restovich and wanted someone else that was already on the 40 man roster to replace him.

“The thinking was (he’s) a very fundamentally sound young man,” Dusty Baker said. “He can give us some energy. He can play all positions. Plus, the way we’re going, you’ve got to make a change someplace.”

So Baker's idea of making a change is the 25th man gets replaced. At least Theriot is benefitting from the move.

I don't see how he's benefitting apart from more per diem money

During a pregame show after the move, he said that he was hoping the move would light a fire under some of the guys.

As of this writing Theriot has been available for 6 games and has had 2 plate appearances. Why the hell was he called up?

He's a spark, dude.
