    Just wondering if he would've had a better time being in our outfield now; away from Pierre and Murton. Maybe teamed up with Soriano and Fukudome, instead? Either way, I didn't have bad feelings toward him, and wish him well. Maybe to enjoy a renewal in Minnesota.

    Okay, I stand corrected. I was looking at last year, and nothing else. Also, I guess it makes sense that he would get a contract in Washington, and not a team that could be more of a contender. Sorry. And, like another poster (Post Count Padder?) said, I would've liked to have had him in say, 2002.

    Obviously assuming sarcasm here, but what do your (or PECOTA's) statistical projections have as his ceiling? Why do you assume sarcasm? I think Fontenot could be an everyday starter at second for us. He's got just as much pop (if not more) than DeRosa, is better at OBP, and is better defensively. Let Fontenot start at second and put DeRo back in his uber-sub roll. Okay, this is twice I've seen Fontenot described as something better than below average at 2B. He is not a good defender. Where is this coming from? Thank you!!

    I agree with this, nice post. And Derwood, I agree no couple got screwed but it's still morally wrong and sad that it was allowed to happen. I don't agree with either you or cubbiebum. And why is it "morally" wrong? Many children are raised by grandparents, and Ernie is of grandparenting age, although he and his wife will be the parents. I don't understand your saying it's morally wrong. Kudos to Ernie and his wife!

    cbssportsline.com had Houston with 1 game to elimination before today's games. They did win, but Milwaukee won, too. Shouldn't Houston have been eliminated already? Or do the Mets have to win, too?

    I have no idea who Hitoki Iwase is. Cannot say how I'd feel. No to Merloni, maybe Macowiak, if used properly, Torrealba makes no sense, and YES to Ward!

    And what I'm saying is this is ridiculous. "True fans" is a stupid phrase. The theory that many fans find the team trendy because they lose is stupid. The theory that marketing would decline if they won is asinine. It's a stupid topic that should be deleted. Immediatly, it would skyrocked, however, in the long runs, people outside Chicago would not care as much, and wed become another hated big money team like the Yanks and Red Sox. First, I'm from Wisconsin, and have always been a Cub fan. There are many of us here, and we would not stop being Cub fans because we'd win. I would agree with a previous poster who'd want the Cubs to contend every year, and have people hate us because we have a lot of money to spend every year. (Please bring in Mark Cuban!). And who cares about the bandwagon jumpers, and the people who'd hate us because we'd become a big money team like the Yankees and Red Sox! I would give several organs (not vital ones, please!), and maybe an eye to win the WS!

    I totally agree. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Hancock family. So sad.

    Don't you think it should be on whoever's bright idea it was to make room on the roster for Pie while deciding that both Ohman and Cedeno needed to stay? There were so many people that should have been sent down before Guzman. Yeah, why was Guzman sent down again? He pitched two innings yesterday and he was sent down *presumably* to get stretched out for a newly opening spot in the rotation. Thanks!

    With no help from the excellent fielding of Jacque Jones. And Theriot. What about Murton? Didn't he miss a fly ball earlier? Even if they did call it a hit! :roll:

    Then let him finish at second and move DeRosa to RF, like someone else suggested. Why is Theriot finishing garbage if he's finishing at his regular position?
