Yeah, I saw that. Who is going down?

I love how the Trib article starts talking about needing to add speed to the offense.

Posted
I'm sorry, but I really did laugh out loud at that. I'm glad Theriot's up, but speed is not what this team lacks, it's talent. The Trib is so clueless. LOL.

I agree with that. I think we all like the potential that Theriot brings, but he's far from being the answer.

My guess is Bynum DFA.

I say Restovich gets DFA'd. Dusty refuses to play him and Bynum has that speed factor going for him.

I'd send Bynum down. He's superfluous on the roster, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was Restovich that is the one sent down.

Or maybe, we're shrinking the bullpen back to 6 pitchers again and we're sending Novoa back.

Bynum is out of options, and can play more positions then Theriot. Not sure if we will DFA him...Restovich is possible.

I wouldn't be surprised if one of them (Bynum or Restovich) turns out to be "injured" and winds up on the 15-day DL.

Maybe they took Neifi out and shot him.

Hendry: "Hey Neifi, could you give me a hand out here with some of these bags of balls?"

-promptly shoves Neifi into bag and sends him to Siberia-

BTW, I guess the youth movement is officially a go! 3 position players with less than 1 full year of MLB tenure and 5 pitchers? Here comes that division crown.

Wow, amazing how far Neifi's stock has plummetted only 30 games after getting a $5M contract. Last year he was allowed to play through horrific prolonged slumps while staying at the top of the lineup. Not anymore.

Funny that the trib says he's hitting .309...he's actually hitting .282....the .309 is his SLG.

But his OBP is a blistering 328.

He'll fit right in.

Only if it drops from there. Only if it drops. :(

So Theriot is at .282/.328/.309 in AAA? Man, it sucks to be Neifi. Of course Neifi also has 5 million reasons to be happy.

Has there been any word on whose place on the 25-man roster The Riot will take?

Nope. The Trib is the only one reporting the Theriot promotion. Anywhere else that reports it is using the Trib as a source.

So, if this is a 'desperation move' - albeit a pretty weak one, no offense to The Riot - which would you rather read in the paper:

The Cubs calling up The Riot today to provide that much-needed speed,

-OR-

the Cubs putting their clubhouse manager "Otis" in as batboy to help break their first long losing streak last year?

And remember, death is not an option.
