  1. I'll be at their game tonight. I'm sure it will depress me.
  2. I voted a bunch. I'd like to see him make the roster, at least.
  3. The Mets cut Kyle Farnsworth today. I head jeff fassero doesn't have a contract at the moment either. Just Sayin'
  4. I hope Theo spends less time debating Edwin Jackson in the offseason than this thread. If that's his focus for what was primarily wrong with this team and staff, we have a problem.
  5. You guys are writing off Mark Bellhorn too early. Don't sleep on him.
  6. When Soriano is your best/only option in that spot, you know it's not even worth stressing over. this team isn't built to win anything.
  7. Good god. I don't know if I can stomach another two years of this.
  8. Soriano striking out in a key situation? Not on my list of surprising developments.
  9. Lillibridge is due, after all. What's the stat that tracks "due-ness" again?
  10. Don't be so melodramatic. It's a simple matter of one HBP followed by three consecutive balks.
  11. Inning over. 6-5 cardinals. Robinson lined out to right.
  12. Sort of ironic to say after a game that they lost because of one relief pitcher who is really [expletive] [expletive]. They also only scored 3 runs which looks pretty good this year but it's not enough to win games for normal teams. Not excusing what Marmol did but don't act like this was a perfect game. It is when your starter is good enough to give up 0 through 8. It's a shame ballgames last 9 innings, then.
  13. That's what is frustrating. I don't think this team is as bad as expected (in fact the starting pitching has been pretty good, especially lately) and if the bullpen didn't suck we'd be around .500. Don't sell us short. This bullpen doesn't just suck, it's unwatchable.
  14. Well, that's obviously an overexaggeration. Please allow me to vent. I think we're all entitled after that {censored}.
  15. Words cannot express how utterly beyond surprised I am. Why do I even bother following this year? there are maybe 2 guys who belong on a major league roster in the lineup.
  16. Dolis needs an "out" pitch in the worst way.
  17. Why does it seem like Gameday uses words like "softly" and "pops" so often after our at bats?
  18. I think Luwick would have been instantly cut had he even THOUGHT about swinging at that pitch. He had zero intention of EVER taking teh bat off his shoulder in that at bat, and marmol couldn't hit the broad side of a battleship.
  19. I don't know if anyone is suggesting that the moment Rizzo gets the callup, we trade LaHair for garbage. But once Rizzo proves h'es ready to crush major league pitching too, if LaHair can bring value from a position we can trade from depth, you have to look at that. Rizzo is going to get called up long before this club is seriously competing for the post season, so we'd be wasting a chance to POTENTIALLY get some long-term help for a shorter-term player if we kept LaHair and moved him to another position. Eyes on the long-term rebuilding project...that's the prize. Hoping to squeeze a few more runs out of the lineup next year while sacrificing the opportunity to help us long-term is the wrong focus.
  20. http://ts4.mm.bing.net/th?id=I4977365105770571&pid=1.3http://buckeyebanter.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/tackleberry-300x253.jpg
  21. I don't think there's much chance of that. I believe they tried that in the minors to no avail. Besides, his value to the team is probably going to be more related to his production-per-dollar, not really his gross stats. I don't think he's ever going to be the type hitter you jsut can't afford to not have in the lineup, but he could be the type of guy who provides solid production for a low cost when no other options are available. If he starts costing us runs on defense, well, that value dips dramatically, as I doubt his gross stats are going to be all that amazing.
  22. The best way I can describe LaHair is that his upside is a high production-per-dollar type of guy. he has the potential to be a solid producer at a lower rate for the next few years. The problem is that Rizzo's ceiling is the type of hitter you can build an offense around for a decade.
  23. I wonder if Jeff Fassero or Joe Borowski are still unsigned...
  24. Honestly, I think a lot of "ifs" have to line up just to keep us from being very very bad. I'm not at all excited about this season, but I'm excited about the potential future. It takes guts to do what needed to be done...that is blowing up the piece meal Hendry roster that tried to catch lightning in a bottle in favor of a organization built for sustained success. It will probably cause short-term heartaches which will eventually give way to long term happiness. My real gripe isn't that they're doing it, it's that it took so many frustrating years and a change in ownership for them to even get started.
