  1. All that is true about the inconsistant lineup being the team's major flaw. We always have one or two innings where we score 2 or 3 runs, and then go cold for 8-10 straight innings. It's been that way for 5 years. But there is still absolutely no excuse for walking in a run to end a game. When the game's on the line, you gotta be able to at least groove it and hope for the best. Missing the zone by a foot and a half with the game on the line is not acceptible for a major league pitcher. And THAT seems to happen to this team multiple times every year, too.
  2. I have no sympathy for any reliever who walks in a winning run. If you can't at least groove one down the middle, you have no place in the major leagues.
  3. You walk the winning run in, you outta be in Iowa by morning. JMHO
  4. Golly, Hendry sure can allocate a payroll, can't he?
  5. "I hear Des Moines is nice this time of year." -Will Ohman's predicted comments at post-game press conference.
  6. Izturis doing his best Derek Jeter impression (albeit slightly less girlie) and unsuccessfully.
  7.   Now that song is in my head! Closer than my peeps you are to me! baby! Oops! Wrong version. Sorry.
  8. WSCR is reporting he has a ruptured femoral metacarsis in his left abdomen and it is inflaming the ulnar phalange on his cocles. (okay, I made all that up. It's late, I'm drunk, and giddy from this game.)
  9. Guzman has been absolutely filthy today. He needs to start. Soon.
  10. BTW- for pretty much the first time, I can REALLY see why scouts and Cubs brass have been so high on Guzman. His pitches are moving all OVER the place, and it looks like he's got 3-4 different ones.
  11. Lee came down with Lupus, no longer available for day games.
  12. It's all part of his new "intimidation" strategery.
  13. Sudden on-set Leprosy. rare condition. Out for the season. kidding. Mild hammy strain.
  14. Nicely played. I'ts never a bad time to rag on TLR or the Cards.
  15. Can we call the relievers tonight "the Funky Bunch?" i think we just need to call this hole team the funky bunch...i certainly don't know of any other team in the league more deserving of the title... our centerfielder looks like alien our closer is carrottop's brother one of our pitchers is a porn star another one of our pitchers constantly acts like a 4 year old up on the mound i can go on and on definitely the funky bunch Done. Think it'll catch on?
  16. Can we call the relievers tonight "the Funky Bunch?"
  17. Can we dub our pitching staff Marquis Mark and the Funky Bunch?
  18. Looking. Inside corner, then he acted like a minor crybaby about the call.
  19. His swing reminds me of Jeromy Burnitz. I say we bat him 5th.
  20. Also, while Murton is learning RF, it makes sense to put a better defender in the other corner spot so Soriano can move a couple steps over to protect Murton, and that means Jones over Floyd. I know I'm coming in late here, but I just wanted to point out that someone referred to Jones as the "better defender." That's not a ringing endorsement for this roster.
