Kerry Sayers (is that her name?) just reported that her sources said that the Cubs are expecting the worse, the results are in and the doctors are looking over it now, they are currently not releasing any information about the injury, but the range she was told was is 8-10 weeks. She also mentioned something about the Cubs looking over contingency plans while Lee is out.

This was reported on Chicago Tribune live, more details to follow on Sportsnight at 6:30.

Then Bruce Levine (or was it Sullivan) also mentioned something to the effect that if the Cubs get Prior back by June 1 that would be lucky for them. Wood probably not until the end of May.

So looks like we will be without 3 of our best 4 players for the next month at least!

I saw that on Chicago Tribune Live too but nothing is official from the team. Hopefully, the time frame is an overestimation.

If all this is true, season over. That's just too much to overcome. Not even the Cards could get through their best hitter plus two of their best four pitchers going down by mid-April.

Not so fast, the pitchers are coming back next month. I'm not willing to scrap the season. The Cubs aren't just going to roll over plus, they have a relatively soft schedule until June (except for a couple of different series here or there)

Theres 50 games between now and June 15th (8 weeks from today). If the Cubs played .500 ball, they'd be 34-30 at that point.

What do you think the Cardinals would do during that stretch? Probably something like 28-22, making them 37-28. That would put us 2.5 games behind them with Prior Wood and Lee hopefully healthy.

I dunno I'm trying to rationalize here.

I don't buy that part of the report. Be it Sullivan or Levine, neither one is the epitome of credibility, by any stretch.

Yeah, the comment wasn't based on any news other then their personal observations from watching Prior and Wood pitch. I just felt like adding it because it was frustrating enough to hear about Lee as well as hearing that compounded it.

Depends a lot on how well Edmonds comes back from the injury. He looked good yesterday.

And is someone like Ramirez going to be able to get back on track? Losing Lee is definitely a huge, huge blow to the offense.

Wow. This is just not good by any stretch.

With JJ struggling, ARAM not started, Cedeno airmailing throws, and Pierre with a 200ish OBP, this team really needs DLee. Plus, even if he does come back, he might not be 100%.

Somehow, this hurts even more than Wood and Prior going down.

For those wanting media confirmation, watch sportsnight NOW (630 CST) and see what Kerry Sayers says

Can you give us an update for those not in the chicago area? Much appreciated.

If it is true the Cubs will have to make due. The pitching (particularly the bullpen) has been carrying this team.

The Score is reporting that DLee is being put in a cast. More news is coming in 10 minutes. Jesse Rogers says he just spoke to Hendry.

Man, I really hope the preliminary report turns out to be false.

Sportsnight coming up in a min....

Just for fun I Googled the words "preliminary report was false" on google to see how often this happens, and it turned up with 0 results :(
