Terrible play as Furcal ran into Lee.... provide updates on the injuries in this thread.... we're all guessing around 4-6 weeks for Lee.

This is one heck of a way for Walker to be guaranteed a spot in the lineup every day.

Two words: John Mabry.

Searching for the emoticon... oh, yes, here it is:

:pukel:

Mabry will start the StL series, I can smell it. ](*,)

I'd love for it to be Mabry, with Walker at 2nd...as opposed to the Neifi option. Especially with Mabry's history in STL...I think he'll want to do well.

Just say no to Neifi.

I'd like to see:

Pierre

Hairson 2B

Walker 1B

Ramirez

Barrett

Jones

Murton

Cedeno

Unfortunately, I'm afraird Neifi will get much or most of the playing time at 2B.

The way Cedeno has been hitting you hate to move him but eventually he's going to hit 2nd.

.....and Neifi makes starter once again!!!!

Somebody find his voodoo shrine and piss on it. This guy will do anything to crack the starting lineup, even pray to Jobu for a Derek Lee injury!!

ARRRRGGGGHHHH!

I went to bed right after Aardsma gave up the two runs last night fully expecting to wake up to a loss...this is worse. But, like a train wreck, I can't turn away...I missed sportscenter this morning...anyone have a link to the video?

That's exactly the lineup I'd put out there.

I can't believe people are trying to pretend a Lee-less lineup is not a bad lineup. This is already a mediocre lineup, at best, with Lee in it. Without him, it's terrible. That's not to say it will be impossible to stay in the race if he is out for a while, but it doesn't make any sense to lie about the quality of the replacement lineup if Lee is out. It would be flat out awful.

I was watching the game in bed, and fell asleep when Aardsma came in, then woke up just before the collision and couldn't fall back to sleep.

Agreed. You're replacing Lee, 2005's most productive offensive player, with a combination of Neifi Perez, John Mabry, and Jerry Hairston.

Can we postpone our games until Lee comes back?

Anyone have a rain-making machine or something?!?

We need Crash Davis to get us a rainout.

Aside from the Lee thing...West Coast trips make me cranky....going to bed at midnight or later doesn't work with the 6:00 a.m. wakeup call.

After watching the replay it looked like Lee's wrist was bent backwards. There could be some ligament damange. I hope not, b/c I think ligaments take longer to heal. I really hope the damange isn't severe.

It looked to me like Eyre just has a boo boo. I think he will be fine.

Other than flipping Jones and Murton, agreed.

i think he hyper extended the wrist--he did want to stay in the game because that is the type of player he is---i think he will be out for at least the st. louis series but that the wrist is not broken--i think it is more like a severe sprain---lets hope for the best!

I fell asleep in the 4th or 5th; woke up and went to the gym before work this morning, and got to the cardio room where the first thing (literally) that I saw was Furcal banging into Lee. I stood with my hands on my head, jaw dropped, right through the end of the highlight where they showed the Cubs' comeback (which was very nice, BTW). I went home still in shock.

I really hope this doesn't linger more than a week or two.

On a team that, going into last night, had the worst team-OBP in the NL.

Welcome to the board!

He put his hand out, palm first, like he was trying to push Furcal or brace him. His hand got bent backwards so there could be some ligament damage which would be a problem, or he may be lucky and just be really, really sore for awhile.

Wrist injuries, as somebody said, can linger for a long time. Rest is the only way to really heal it. Ideally he'd be DL'd for 15 days and come back ready to go.

Let's not rush to accuse the Cubs of hiding something regarding this injury please. The guy just got hurt late last night. They aren't hiding anything because there isn't anything to hide.

Why would the guy the Cubs signed to be their back-up 1B rot on the bench? Mabry's going to play. Neifi's not going to move to 2B full time while Walker plays first. Even Dusty's not that dumb. Now, Neifi or Hairston may start at 2B Friday since Mulder's going but Mabry's going to play 1B.

If you want to worry about Neifi, be concerned about the fact that Cedeno is probably about two weeks away from losing his starting spot if he continues to have problems throwing the ball.

Does this remind anyone of last year's Braves? Chipper got hurt and the national media threw in the towel. They dipped into their minor leagues, Andruw had a huge year, they held it together, and did what they always do.

IMO, ARam has chance to establish himself as the best 3B in the League if he can get hot and carry this team the way A. Jones did last year, and guys like Murton and Cedeno could become the Francour of this year. The Cubs really have a chance to show us something here. I was impressed that they did not fold up the tents last night.
