Who do you think will win? The Cubs have a shot at 6 holes (depending on Murton and Pierre). Could the Astros actually have the best non-Cincinnati offense in the division? They only have 2 legit holes, and Ausmus was pretty decent last year. Biggio, Berkman, Lane, and Ensberg are solid. Tavarez could be.

yeah, i'm going w/ the astros...especially if clemens comes back. everyone rags on houston's offense, but, like you said, they have fewer glaring holes than the cubs and cards. heck, the brewers offense really only has one obvious hole.

I disagree about the Astros offense. Berkman is the only real threat there. Biggio is getting older, Ensberg has been inconsistent from year to year, Wilson is no better than Jacque or Encarnacion, Lane is still a bit unproven, Taveras has little plate discipline, Ausmus can't hit, and Everett's only skill is the sac bunt.

biggio may be getting older, but he's still better than miles (and neifi, when he plays). i'd still say he's above average for his position. i'm not counting on either lane or ensberg flopping, let alone both.

it's not a great offense, but i feel it's pretty close to both the cubs and the cards.

Well, this stinks. Opening Day at Wrigley, versus the Cards no less, and I'll be stuck in a phone meeting for probably two hours starting four minutes from now.

Come on Greg! Show the staff how it's done!

Fred, Gameday says Maddux threw 9 pitches that inning.

Gameday would be wrong. They screwed up their own count. 2 pitches a piece to Eckstein and Encarnacion and 4 to AP.

I don't know if this has been coverd, but Ronny didn't change his number to 3 like Bruce said he was going to on Wednesday.... As a proud owner of $50 #5 jersey I hope it stays that way.

Fred has 13 in his line score.
