Here are my guesses:

1. Seattle

2. Texas

3. Toronto

Don,

Good guesses. I am telling you - there has got to be something about his personality for those teams to not want to trade for a $2.5M player with his potential for offensive production. Maybe a Spring Training deal.

When you've played for five teams in eight years, word gets around pretty fast. He's not completely toxic, but close. No one seems to want him, and if the Cubs don't either, they're going to have to eat some money to move him. I guess picking up the option wasn't such a smart idea after all.

Only if you're dead set on trading him. I cannot possibly see how this team could be hurt by having Todd Walker starting at 2B this year.

I don't see anyway we pay somone to take Walker. That would be foolish. He's already the best secondbaseman on the roster. It's fairly asinine to trade him as it is, but to pick up any of his contract is just ludicrous. This team isn't hurting for 2.5 million, so it's not like you should pick anything up to move him.

I'm still holding out hope that the market does dry up and that Walker is starting at second on Opening Day.

I'm with you, but it's hard to see happening as long as the FBI is still patrolling the dugout.

Todd Walker ends up on the Cubs' bench.

If Walker is on this roster and playing BEHIND Neifi Perez, I'm quitting this team until Hendry and Baker are long gone. I mean that.

Posts like this always amaze me. I mean seriously, if you want to stop being a Cubs fan and leave until management starts doing things the way you want them, by all means, go ahead.

Furthermore, who cares if you leave. Honestly, are the rest of us Cubs fans supposed to try to stop you? Do we need to call the Cubs organization and tell them they are losing a fan and they better call and try to keep the customer happy?

While we don't have an AS at every position and Hendry and Baker are far from perfect, be a Cubs fan through thick and thin, or do as you say and leave.

Mr. Miles thinks Patterson and Walker will be dealt, but it sounds like there is no active trade talk with Walker yet.

this makes me happy:

With Tejada apparently off the market, the Cubs appear confident heading into spring training with youngster Ronny Cedeno as their starting shortstop. Cubs brass is ecstatic over the winter-ball season Cedeno enjoyed in Venezuela, where he batted .355 (.60-for-169).

this makes me sad:

Cedeno will form half of a new double-play combination with either Jerry Hairston Jr. or Neifi Perez opening at second base. It appears Hairston and Perez each will see significant time at second.

Hopefully Hairston bounces back and is much more productive (say, '03-'04 levels in more PT). It's hard to even root for good things to happen with the inanity of some of these decisions.
