Yeah, the special teams were bad too. Carolina started every drive outside of the 30, even after the Bears scored. This team really needs to utilize the backs and find a TE worth utilizing next year. The 2nd screen to Jones was the first screen I've seen work for the Bears since Neal Anderson was on the team. I blame the coaching staff moreso than any other aspect of the game. Tillman and special teams didn't help (punting was horrible), but no adjustments, bad playcalling, hurt most.

Am I the only one who thinks that if Fox, Delhomme, etc. weren't fired up and excited about beating a team who had thoroughly crushed them two months ago - and doing it in the playoffs, no less - that there's simply something wrong with them?

There's a difference between being fired up/excited and cursing out home fans.

I generally liked Delhomme/Panthers before this game. After all his hooting, yelling, and pointing after the game, I really hope they lose in a devestating fashion this week. Call it sour grapes, but Delhomme's behavior struck me as completely classless.

And at times the 40 yard line which is totally unacceptable.

Home fans who were throwing stuff at Julius Peppers.

Jake was no more fired up about this one than he was about any of his other four playoff victories. Just look at video - his whole career with Carolina, he's always run around and celebrated when good things happened in big games. It probably just seems different when you're on the short end of it - which is understandable - but don't call it classless.

i think that fox should have showed some game decorum on the sidelines is all. rushing up into the refs faces when the bears incomplete a pass and the ref gets the call right and still making a vehement incomplete gesture is uncalled for.

MUHAMMAD HURT: Bears wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad suffered a broken right hand but remained in the game. Muhammad said the injury happened in the fourth quarter but was not sure on what play. He made a catch after the injury.

Muhammad finished with three receptions for 58 yards against his former team, with an 18-yard grab setting up the Bears with first-and goal for their final touchdown. Had the Bears won, Muhammad said it was unlikely he would have been able to play in the NFC title game.

If he does that everygame it makes it even more absurd. If that's how he operates for the rest of the playoffs, I'm positive my disdain for him will grow. Running off the field without shaking hands and pointing and shouting at the fans in another stadium is classless. Sorry, if you don't think so.

All this talk about Delhomme just reminded me of Brad Johnson on week 17 acting the fool when he was cutting up our 2nd-3rd tier players. I never liked Brad Johnson and was so glad when we didn't sign him. I hope he starts for Minn next year so we can see how good he does against our 1st tier D.

I wouldn't spend much in FA, but I would draft a WR probably in the 3rd rd. Probably more of a change of pace type WR, they seem to have all long/lean WR with speed based on longer strides rather than quickness. A WR with the skill set more in the mold of Santana Moss rather than Randy Moss, might be a nice compliment to Moose.

I don't agree with that. You are basically saying the Bears need a short, quick WR. I personally like the big bodies. Wish they used their size better. But there aren't a lot of Steve Smith, Santana Moss type WRs.

I think it is a different style of WR, they're out there. I like Santana's younger brother as far as being a potential smaller quick type WR. Bigger bodies like Gage are great, if you know how to use them. Moose knows how to use his body and great route running, players like Berrian and Bradley have great speed, but lack quickness. I want a WR with quickness.

Ok, I see what you are saying. If Bobby Wade could catch, or run routes, he would have been a good guy in the WR corps. I wanted Bradley's OU teammate in the draft (can't remember his name now). He fit the description you are speaking of.

Those types of guys seem to work well for New England. Givens/Branch/Brown and before this year David Patten.

Givens is a UFA.

I guess that answers why they would be throwing to Berlin on that last drive instead of Moose.

Would've been a tough game in Seattle without at least the threat of Moose out there.

Its OK, let Delhomme act like fool or any way he wishes, I'm certain several of the Bears caught his act. They'll be another time and another place for Mr. Delhomme and the Bears.

Are we sure the broken hand didn't happen before the season started? That would explain a few things.

I haven't seen the Bears play that much this season but don't they usually put more pressure on the QB? IMO, teams that struggle to put pressure on the QB usually get exposed in the defensive backfield because those guys are living off the pressure from the defensive front.

It was kinda vice versa. The defensive backs were leaving so many receivers open, that Delhomme was able to throw quickly, and thus avoiding any pressure that came his way.

Tony Almeida (played by Carlos Bernard) and his faithful sidekick, the Cubs mug from "24."

It was more of Delhomme throwing under the coverage and in a hurry before the pressure arrived (outside of the long passes to Smith). The DL didn't have a great game, and they have definitely helped the secondary with the pressure they put.

Wanted for 2006-07 season:

A veteran quarterback

A cover corner

A tight end

A possession receiver.

Do your job Angelo.

Multiple OL.

The Bears won't be able to get a cover corner.

Jimmy Williams could fall with either a bad combine or character issues.

He's already slated mid teens down.

I've heard a bit about him moving to S, I don't think he's a shut-down corner.

63 pages!

I'm certainly not going to read through all of them, so I'll just give my summary. Overall, good game by the Bears. They really dropped the ball in regards to respecting Steve Smith's game, but other than Smith running all over them, they played pretty solid. Stop Smith and the Bears win this game.

I was very disappointed with the 2nd Smith touchdown. Why was Thompson single covering him? It's that kind of poor judgment that cost the Bears this game.

The only other part of this game I'm upset with is Maynard's inability to punt the ball. I felt he did an awesome job all season, then just completely botched the field position in this game.

I thought Grossman did a pretty good job overall. I was disappointed that he decided to show his inexperience on 4th and 2 to basically end the game. He looked totally panicked on that play.

It was a fun season and I look forward to next year. I hope our first pick in the draft will be a tight end. Or at least pick one up in free agency that can get open more than Clark does.

Berrian looked like a stud receiver yesterday! He made several great catches.

Not to make excuses for Maynard, because he certainly had a bad day, but the wind was swirling quite a bit from what I gathered...that could have had something to do with it. But that doesn't excuse the shank.

He wasn't kicking into the wind in the first quarter, though. It was the south endzone that was the trouble spot because of the SW winds.

Of course, their kicking game didn't seem to have any troubles with it.
