i was actually on my way to alert you to this post. Great stuff, i didnt think it could get better than the "doorstop" post, but kudos.

I admittedly haven't read this entire thread and don't know if JJ is still a target of the Cubs, but in case it is...my condolences.

been saying this all along...

go with patterson in right and see what he's done with his game in the offseason. if it's the same old story, broker a deal at the deadline and use the $$ you would give jones on a big name player since more talent will be available in july than is now.

If we start patterson in RF and he flops, there will be no deadline deal. You don't broker big deals in a push for 4th place.

But you do postpone Kerry Wood's surgery to get him some set up work.

ugh, two years is too much. Hell, one year with a team option is too much...

Anyway, I'm not too worried, he already has 3 years on the table with the Royals I believe, and some other team will probably give him 3 years. St. Louis please :D

Some good news for once...well, sort of good news.

St. Paul Pioneer Press

The Chicago Cubs consider Twins free agent Jacque Jones the best outfielder still available and are expected to make him a $5 million, one-year offer. Jones can get $18 million for three years from the Kansas City Royals, with a fourth year vested were he to achieve performance incentives.

No way Jones accepts a one-year, $5 million deal from us when he has a 3-year, $18 million deal on the table from another team.

what an insult to the rest of the outfielders that are FA's.

That just goes to show you how sucky the remaining outfielders are.

Two things:

1- Best outfielder available? PUKE. Trade plz.

2- HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH 18 Mil w/ a possibility of 4 years.... AHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHA

Luckily we won't get him, no way anyone turns down $13 million more, even if it does mean playing in Kansas City. But hey, his suckyness just won't stand out as bad

It's amazing how many conflicting reports there are on Jones.

Cubs to offer him one year.

Cubs to offer him two years.

Cubs willing to offer three years.

KC offering three years.

KC offering three years with a fourth year vesting option.

KC offering only two years.

Is that the sign of a good agent?
