If you think signing Jones would be bad, just wait until Baker bats him between Lee and ARam because he's a lefty.

That's a given with that fool. He did it with Burnitz so you know he will do it with Jones.

And the catcher has to bat 8th because, well, he is the catcher.

I don't like dusty one bit, but I do know he won one game against the Cards last year because of his obsession with R-L-R-L. It worked beautifully against the over-manager Larussa, who ended up having a very poor relief pitcher other there and the Cubs took advantage of the matchup.

At any rate... blechpukeblech for Jones.

When I see all this stuff about the Cubs seeking a "left-handed hitting right fielder", it makes me wonder even more why we had no interest in going after Brian Giles....he would have fit the bill perfectly, just doesn't make any sense at all.

But how many did the Cubs lose b/c of the matchup?

The world may never know.

Bullcrap, total 100% pure bullcrap. If they sign Jones, ugh, just shoot me now...

Seriously, the only way Jacque Jones is an acceptable person in right field is if he's the 8th best hitter on the team. And that is hoping for a LOT from Cedeno, Murton, and Pierre.

Why on earth is Preston Wilson not getting more attention if Hendry is dead set against going with Patterson? If he'll take just one year (or even the usual one year with an option we'll never take with a small buyout), he's clearly a better choice.

Past 3 seasons.

Jones

.304 .333 .464 .797

.254 .315 .427 .742

.249 .319 .438 .757

Wilson

.282 .343 .537 .880

.248 .315 .391 .706

.260 .325 .467 .792

Now which of those two is more likely to have a season that is better than pathetic? Probably the guy who has put up an .800 OPS multiple times in his career and almost did last year...

Ugh, just ugh.

Nevermind that the fools are writing off Huff, ugh.

Isn't Wilson right handed?

Which is even more reason not to settle for rubbish. Sorry, we don't have a on field general who is capable of getting more than the sum of parts he has. We have to have quality.

Shoot...me...now

This move hasn't happened yet so I'll wait until Hendry actually does something before I jump down his throat.

Agreed...but it sure does not sound good.

Who would you rather have, Huff or Jones?

signing giles would be admitting that there's something to the statistic of on-base percentage. hendry will never do that, he hates OBP, and will go out of his way to avoid players who have it.

Well that's a reasonable statement if I've ever heard one.

Wilson for the bulk of those 3 years played in Coors field minus the half season in Washington.

Both are garbage, IMO.

Neither. I think that Hendry screwed up focusing on Pierre and now he is paying for that. I don't know who is available but these choices are ridicules.

since you don't know me, or really anyone else here, you'll probably have to learn that i have a tendency for visceral venting.

The most disappointing aspect of signing Jones or Encarncion or Wilson is Hendry truly believes he's improving the team. I agree with the earlier post he's lost or better yet, clueless.

hahahaha! He is also brutally honest and a marxist. Two traits that make for a high level of volatility.

I'm just going to be really pissed if he signs Jones for 3 years. With Wilson at 1 year, at least you don't really HAVE to play him if, say, Patterson gets his head out of his rectum and becomes a ballplayer. But if you give Jones 3 years, 15 million or worse, that's a lot of money for a 4th outfielder. And should Patterson break out, hmm, I wonder which outfielder will be replaced by Jones the second he slumps. Say hello to Jacque Jones, left fielder!

SHOOT...ME...NOW

Who wouldn't want Giles? But I think its unfair to criticize Hendry for not signing Giles. Giles had no intentions of leaving the West Coast. He turned down bigger money elsewhere to stay in SD.
