Well, I can see Henry getting into the Burnett deal now that he has all this free money laying around. Anyone for Burnett for $55 million?? :puke:

 

That's bad, but it's not as bad as what we were trying to give Furcal. There actually exists the chance that Burnett would exceed the value of his contract. Not that the chance of that is large, but it destroys the chances of Furcal living up to $13 a year (which I place somewhere around zero).

How in the world can you say that these two are equals? There is no valid proof that your statement is true. Are you saying every rookie that comes up ='s Patterson? Some point in time we have to try and let the kids play and Cedeno has showed quite a bit recently to think he can handle starting at SS for the Cubs and do a good job at it also.

True, But I still find it odd that its been close to an hour and NO other media source has reported it except the LA times has reported this.

The Trib owns all sort of stuff...the LA Times, the Baltimore Sun, obviously WGN-TV, WGN-Radio, the Food Network, the WB.

If this report is true, then I guess we should start getting used to the idea of Soriano and Pierre, huh?

 

I don't buy any of the reports about Soriano. They were (both?) proffered up by sites that seem to get off on pulling random stuff out of nowhere.

 

Almost all of the players that we've been linked to in rumors post somewhat strong OBPs (Bradley, Furcal, Wilkerson) and to go after Soriano seems to be a great departure from that. I seem to remember that Hendry has made somewhat tacit admissions that this team needs to get on base more. Trading (what would a large price at that) for Soriano just doesn't compute.

 

But then again, neither does anything to do with Neifi.

Oh, I'm not buying the Wood/Zito/Soriano rumor. It's just that Hendry has been said to be high on him in the past and it's no secret that he's available this winter.

You're right, and that makes me sad. Has anybody told him that you can get quality offensive players that play good defense? (Bradley) It doesn't have to be a one or the other type of thing, right?

 

So let's set the over/under on ABs for Neifi this year at 550?

I agree. This has been out for a long time in a major newspaper and yet no other media source has picked up on it.

I gave up on '06 long ago so this really doesn't bother me much. Do the Dodgers rank in the top 5 of most messed up organizations? They have to be close.
