Paul Martinez kicks it through with :01 to go, 34-31 Oregon leads it. :(

That sucks. I REALLY want Oregon to lose. Otherwise ND may end up playing them in the Fiesta Bowl, and I can think of much better matchups.

Can we make Oregon play USC again? No offense to PSU, but I'd be more worried about a potent offense like Oregon's in a Fiesta Bowl matchup.

Oregon's offense isn't as potent with Kellen Clemens injured.

He's hurt? I missed that...but still, the last time we played a team from Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl...well, we came out on the short end.

ND will not be playing PSU in the Fiesta Bowl. If they both win out it should be PSU/ACC in the Orange and ND/either Pac 10 or at-large (probably UCLA/Oregon or O$U...maybe Bama)

He suffered a season-ending ankle injury against Arizona a few weeks ago. Dennis Dixon and Brady Leaf have been platooning. Oregon still has a bunch of good skill players, but neither Dixon or Leaf would beat a BCS-caliber defense.

That's even worse. UCLA scares the living crap out of me to be honest. If "Good UCLA" shows up they're one of the top 5 teams in the country. It's "Bad UCLA" that submarined their season over the last few weeks.

I don't know what to make of Bama. On paper, ND would be in an ideal situation to beat up on them with their offense, but Bama is a very scrappy team. Not many teams would have made it unbeaten that far without their best playmaker.

I have no worries whatsoever about O$U. We would smoke them, IMO.

I know, Oregon-O$U would be much better.

That was "Bad UCLA" on offense (with the turnovers and not gaining yards) but it's the same defense as always - three starters on the DL and the star middle linebacker injured - with a bunch of undersized freshmen having to play on the DL. All UCLA's D does well is create turnovers and get the big stops when needed (outside of Tucson).

There needs to be a dollar sign attached to Oregon's name somehow (what with their ties to Nike).

UCLA could very possibly beat ND. Would be a great game, but since ND plays them next year I would rather they not play in a bowl. Bama would be a great game IMO. Great D and average O against a great O and average D.

Here is what was posted on a ND board today about the possible bowl matchups

if Texas and USC play in the Rose Bowl, the Fiesta Bowl will get the first pick to "compensate" for losing their host (the Big 12 champ). The Fiesta will take ND if ND wins its last two. The Orange gets the next pick and I think they'll take PSU if PSU wins the Big 10 (and, of course, PSU will be displaced from the Rose Bowl). The Fiesta gets the next pick. They can't take the ACC champ, which has to go to the Orange. They could take the Big East champ, but won't. They'll pick an at-large team then. If think if Alabama is 10-1 (beating Auburn) that they'll take Alabama. But failing that, I think they'll take a 9-2 OSU team (assuming OSU beats Michigan). Oregon if they finish 10-1 will also be in the mix.

59-7 Texas over Kansas in the third quarter. I expected Texas to beat a beatdown on kU, but geez, not like this.

66-14 now. Texas v USC will be a very fun game to watch.

Funny how several kU fans actually thought theyd be able to compete with Texas for a little while. Looks like Texas is just flexing its muscles now.

I don't think we were totally delusional. Hate KU all you want, we've got a very good defense, and we played them very well last year. Texas is, apparently, a much better team this year than last, and KU is a much differnt team on the road than at home. not that this would be close in Lawrence, either.

Probably been discussed by the freshman on board, but...

M-I-Z... Z-O-U!!!

Even though I got rained on, I'm glad I got to see Bd. Smith play a great game in his final home game. We won the last home college football game I ever witnessed in my college career... I'm happy!

I don't care which bowl it is, but I hope there's a Miami-LSU match-up somewhere.

I don't think this is possible if they win out. The ACC winner (Miami) goes to the Orange Bowl and the SEC winner goes to the Sugar Bowl. The only way they play if they win out is to finish 1-2 in the BCS - i.e., USC, Texas and possibly PSU would have to lose.

I'm not sure why you'd be so eager to see this matchup though... there would be about 5 points scored in the game.

Anyone else think it is kinda wrong that FSU can lose to Florida next week, win the ACC Championship game and make it to a BCS game with an 8-4 record?

As someone who is hoping that Mizzou by several freak occurrences makes it to a BCS game with an 8-4 record, no. :P

Here's your BCS nightmare, with all the possibilities except a couple already explained in this thread:

Pac-10: Oregon

Big 12: Missouri

Big Ten: Penn State (no offense PSU, just that Mich and OSU have more national pull)

ACC: 8-4 Florida State

SEC: South Carolina (Is this even possible?)

Big East: South Florida (don't laugh, if USF wins out, including beating WV, this is a reality)

At-larges: UCLA/USC (If UCLA beat USC and won out I can't imagine either of them getting passed up; I'm assuming further nightmarish occurrences such as ND losing one of their last two)

Ouch.

Untrue. PSU has more national alumni than either of those schools. Penn State has a very "Cub-like" fan base, meaning they are everywhere (and will travel to bowls in flocks).

It's actually more of a nightmare for the BCS if Michigan wins with it's 3 losses (which is possible if they beat O$U and Penn State loses next Saturday)

Smoke Em? I admire you confidence but thats pretty strong. Both of OSU's losses were to top 5 teams and games they could have won. Its not like they got blown out verse texas or penn state. When was the last time OSU got smoked, probably not since Cooper was coach, it just doesnt happen. You neednt think about OSU/ND bowl game, Michigan will hopefully take care of business this coming saturday.

Did anyone see the Sportscenter Top 10? I believe they called Stovall "Chauncey Stovall"

They sure did. I know from experience inputting player names into NCAA Football 2006 that a Chauncey Stovall exists and plays football for somebody, but I have no idea what school. That guy is a moron.

Iowa blew out O$U last year, if memory serves. Still your point is correct, and it's just as likely that O$U would smoke ND than the other way around IMO.

Alabama falls below Notre Dame? This is getting out of hand.

It is always out of hand. I have said before but my biggest complaint with the polls it that it is not if you lose, but when you lose. A loss early does not effect you the same as a late loss.

Also did VT play this week? I saw they jumped over ND.

Posted
VT was off and I have no idea why they jumped ND. They probably should be ahead of ND, but why now and not last week?

33-7 at Kinnick last October. OSU's only score came on a meaningless touchdown against the 2nd string with 2 minutes left after Iowa resisted an opportunity to make it 40-0.

What a glorious day that was.
