I hope the Pistons destroy the Cavs. I'm fairly confident they will.

Why is that? If I weren't a fan I'd still be rooting for the upset.

I'm rooting for the Cavs just to see how many ways the talking heads can fall in love with LBJ if he makes it to the ECF.

are you saying they don't have a reason to fall in love with him?

on a related note, scottie pippen said before the cavs-wizards game that lebron would end up being better than jordan.

it'll be interesting seeing him win at least 7 championships then

I dislike Lebron mainly for this one reason: I'm tired of seeing him compared to Jordan.

If I had my way, I wouldn't see any player ever glimpse the pinnacle that he reached, and Jordan's glory would be untouched.

I don't want to see him get Babe Ruth'd. I want him to be remembered as the best for all time with no argument about it.

Of course this'll never happen.

I can't stand the comparison either. Especially when its about age and point averages. Yah, lets punish Jordan for going to college, and for not having a 3 point line growing up. Lebron's team will be swept by Detroit (maybe they can win 1 at home) and then we can stop hearing about him.

I also love how his team's struggles last year and the year before were not his fault, it was because he didn't have the surrounding cast. Now when he has the surrounding cast, you never hear about them.

Jordan never shot many threes throughout his entire career. LeBron has taken over half as many in his career already(they have similar career percentages). And is he not playing unbelievably well right now? Granted I'm able to avoid sportscenter and other networks "analysis" nowadays, but I haven't really heard many Jordan comparisons.

And also, the announcers for every game of the series I watched made special mention of LeBron's supporting cast. There's even shirts about the "James gang".

The comparisons abound, especially since Lebron chose to wear the number "23", coincidence? C'mon.

I wish the NBA would just retire 23, league-wide. Its insulting that some of these fools get to wear it.

Do you think LeBron just started wearing 23 in the NBA? Why do people have favorite numbers? Because growing up they imitate their favorite players.

And the part about retiring number 23 is pretty ridiculous.

I'm saying that it's ridiculous how much the media falls over themselves to praise these star players. I can't even imagine MJ playing in this kind of climate. And Pippen is just falling into the idiot climate of stupid statements that abounds on ESPN.

Did you see the series he put up? 35.7 PPG on 51% from the field, 7.5 RPG, 5.7 APG to go with two game winners. It's not like this is average performance getting hyped just because he's LeBron.

The first game winner was a travel, and the second did not face resistence from even a semblence of defense. That being said, LeBron is an absolutely fantastic player and, at the age of 21, is the second best player in the league today besides Kobe.

As one of the biggest Jordan homers of all time, and as someone who used to refer to Lebron as LeBrick James, I don't think Scottie's statement is so ridiculous. In fact, I happen to think Scottie is one of the more insightful commentators on TV. LeBron is nowhere near MJ now, but I think he can get there. He doesn't seem to have MJ's competitiveness, which may keep him from getting there in the end, but talent wise, he has it.

MJ's competitiveness was probably 80 percent of what got him to the plateau he is on now, with his talent being 15 percent and luck/circumstance being 5 percent. Without MJ-style competitiveness, no one can be better than MJ. It's simply impossible to be as good as MJ was for 13 years without having an amazing competitive spirit. MJ even changed his entire game later in his career, basically transforming from a high-flying 2 guard to a small forward. Who else can/has done that?

How about ranging from a 1 to a 4 throughout your career?

Jordan homers are hilarious. I'm glad that I have little rooting interest in basketball so I can see things without any bias and see how ridiculous everybody is about their favorites.

Yeah, I'm glad the Celtics have sucked for years now, too.

Yep, as evidenced by the fact that I'm a die hard Cubs fan, clearly I don't like the NBA because the Celtics are an awful franchise.

I should clarify. Who else can be the best 2 in the league for years, then come back after an absence and become the best 3 in the league for the next few years? (I know, we won't see many other people retire midcareer, but it warrants mentioning)

I'm always amazed by how little credit Jordan's "supporting cast" gets for the bulls' titles.

Pippen, Grant and Rodman were obviously all very good, but I have a feeling you're referring to more than just them.

I wonder if Detroit could make a couple more 3 pointers in the second half. The 10 of 11(at least half of those being bad shots/well defended) they hit in the first half didn't quite do it for me.

Detroit is looking dominant, again. (against a pretty good offensive team, to boot)

'Nother finals appearance?

out of the 4 times Cleveland played Detroit this season, they were only close to 100 once and that was when they scored 97. That was also the only game they were able to beat Detroit in the regular season. They lost by double digits the other 3 games.

Detroit's defense is real good. No team in the East is close to them. I'll be real surprised if Cleveland takes this series to 6.

They have the easiest road to it of any team left.

However, if the Spurs and Pistons are playing in the finals again this year, I may very well go blind.
